Pastors Appointed to 3 Iowa Churches Ackley — The Rev. John J. Brickley of Gilbert has been named pastor of St. Mary's Catholic church at Ackley. The Rev. Roland E. Braun, who has been assistant pastor of St. Mary's church at Ackley the past several years, has been appointed pastor of St. Peter and Paul's church at Gilbert and of Good Shepherd church at Jewell. The appointments are effective Monday, Jan. 17. Return From Visit Jolce —Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Lindflott and Marilyn and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Lindflott have returned from Tucson, Ariz., where they spent the holidays with Arden Lindflott, who is attending high school there. They visited with Mr. and Mrs. Al Johnson, where Arden makes his home; Mrs. Ben Lovik, Nortna and Ruth, and the Marion Larson, Bill Loveless and Warner families, all formerly of Joice and Hanlontown, now at Tucson; and with the Francis and Schaffer Abraham families at Wichita, Kans., also formerly of Joice, Pvt. ULIN Streets of Fertile Problem After Thaw Named to Board Garner —Frank J. Schoun and George T. Gerdes, Hancock county supervisors, and Edith EUing were appointed to the Hancock county welfare board at the annual meeting of the supervisors Monday. E. Marion Paulson is director of social welfare and Maxine Panosh, assistant. Services for Pvt. Robert V. UHn, who was killed when the Liberty cargo ship which was carrying troops to F.rance was torpedoed in the English channel on June 29, 1944, will be held Friday at 2:30 p. m. at the Major Memorial chapel, with Doctor Lloyd A. Gustafson, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiating. Pvt. Ulin was with the Medical Field Artillery Observation Batal- lion and had been in Wales and England in training for 5 months prior to his death. He was born Oct. 27, 1922, at Belle Plaine, Iowa. He was a graduate of the Mason City high school and had one year of junior college. He received his basic training at Camp Barkeley, Tex., and sailed overseas Feb. 21, 1944. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Ulin, 924 Monroe N. W., 2 brothers, Harold of Mason City and Richard of Venice, Cal., 4 sisters, Mrs. H. O. Oglevie of Sacramento, Cal., Mrs. R. E. Ditzler, Des Moines, Mrs. H. S. Grimm, South Bend, Ind., and Mrs. R. H. Sicwertsen, Mason City. The body will arrive in Mason City at 7:45 a. m. Friday via' the Milwaukee Road. Interment will be at the Field of Honor in Memorial Park cemetery, with the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Amvets and auxiliaries holding military rites. Joice — The condition of Main street became a problem Tuesday after an inch of rain fell on several inches of well-packed snow Traffic tore up the wet snow leaving deep trails in every direction. Willis Larson, local street commissioner, took charge of clearing the street. The snow was scraped to the center of the street with a maintainer, then hauled away by trucks. Mrs. Ida Dull Rites Thursday Services to Beat Mason City Chapel Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Dull, 84, who died Tuesday following a long illness, will be held Thursday at 2 p. m. at the Patterson-James chapel with the Rev. Herbert P. Rumford, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. Mrs. Dull was born May 16, 1864, at Rossville, Iowa. She moved to Cerro Uordo county in 1879. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. F. Dull; parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Holman, and 6 brothers and a sister. Surviving are 7 sons, Harry C., Herbert H., and George Dull, Mason City; Ross Dull, Eugene, Ore.; Rollo Dull, Omaha, Nebr., and Stillman and Ralph Dull, 'San Francisco, Cal., and 3 daughters.
