BLTTMflLLl OOtfllER ICEWf MONDAY, MAY 3f : 1954 Complete Home Air Conditioning Brought to Budget Level by GE Complete home air conditioning, no longer the exclusive luxury of upper bracket owners, is now being brought down into the budget buyer by General Electric. An air conditioning plant that teams up with an advance warm air heating system to furnish a- jound-the-calendar living comfort fe G-E's newest innovation. General Electric calls its home eomfort duo the Air-Wall System of heating and air conditioning. The tystem centers around a compact G-E year-round air conditioner in * single, space-saving package. Lew uian live-feet high, the com. bination winter and summer unit occupies only 8.8 square feet of §pace and can be installed in the basement, in a closet or in the attic. A pair of thermostats maintain predetermined temperatures in* the home throughout the year. It takes only a flick of the switch' to operate the system. - ' The G-E Air Wall System uses an entirely new concept of distributing warm air in winter and cool air in the summer. Using a single system of small ducts and specially designed registers, this new method of air distribution assures comfortable and uniform temperatures throughout the year. In this new system of heating and cooling, the specially designed registers are placed low on the room's outer wall, forming a blanket of warm air in front of the wall. This counteracts chilly drafts from fhe window area, and keeps both the room and floor comfortably, warm. In the summer, it blankets the outer wall with cool, dehumidified air to keep the sweltering heat and humidity outside, while the inside te kept comfortably cool. And with the Air-Wall System there is a complete freedom of furniture and drapery placement. Directly in front of the register, no movement can be felt. There are no hot blasts or cold drafts since the air is directed upwards and not straight out into the room. The air is completely filtered of dirt and dust particles throughout the year. General Electric Year-Round Air Conditioners and Air-Wall Systems . are sold and serviced in the Blytheville area by Bill's Refrigeration Service, 2337 Birch. NEW TWIST — One of the newest features in year-round air conditioning is General Electric's Air Wall Registers, shown above, which are available with G-E's new Air-Wall System of cooling and heating. In winter, the Air Wall Registers hang a blanket of warm.air on inside walls to keep out the cold ... In the summer the registers reverse themselves — they send a fan of cooled air up the walls to keep out the heat. And the Air Wall Registers are a decorator's delight. They can be painted to match any decorating scheme and draperies can be hung.right over them. For efficient operation of your room air conditioner you'll want to be sure that it's properly installed, is the advice of the Air Conditioning and Refrigerating Machinery Association, Inc. That's one big reason you'll want to buy your room conditioner from a reliable dealer. No room air conditioner or other appliance can operate satisfactorily j if the electric circuits of the building are not adequate to deliver the required power, according to the Association. These important rules have been set out by the Association for the installation of the room air conditioner, and following them will pay dividends in added enjoyment and longer life of your unit. 1. CAREFULLY FOLLOW the manufacturer's installation instructions as to wiring, fusing, etc- 2. BE SURE the wiring to the unit is adequate. Wiring too small, or overloaded, is a potent-ial fire hazard—so make certain that the branch circuit serving the unit is properly sized. 3. NEVER use ordinary household extension cords — the wire is too light. If an extension cord must be used, it should be of at least 14- gage wire or larger, depending on the requirements of the unit. The extension should be as short as possible and have s-ood connections. 5. BE SURE the electrical circuit serving the'unit is properly and safely fused for the job. The room air conditioner is care- fully designed and fabricated by the manufacturer to give the user increased pleasure and comfort and more healthful living. With proper installation and reasonable care, ' the room air conditioner will serve its owner well for many years.
