Fred Gwynne and Eileen Brennan head the "Infancy" cast and Frances Sternhagen and George Rose star in "Childhood." The first two of a projected seven-play cycle, "The Seven Ages of Man," which Wilder began in 1961, they were received with critical enthusiasm when first produced off Broadway in New York. Although written in a seriocomic vein, Wilder has employed in them the same theme of universality of man which runs through so much of his work. Both plays are about the lack of communication between children and their parents, but the two plays differ in style and production technique.
