UKIAH Services Faith Lutheran The 15th Sunday after Pentecost begins with Sunday School at 9:15 a.m., followed by the worship service, led by lay ministers, at 10:30 a.m. The sermon is entitled "In View of God's Mercy — We Are Living Sacrifices" on the text of Romans 12:1-8. The Lutheran Youth Fellowship group meets from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Faith Lutheran is located at 560 Park Blvd! First Christian Rev. John Shockley will bring the 11 a.m. message at the First Christian Church, 140 N. Spring St. The sermon title is "Miserable Me," and is based on Mark 14:32-42 and Psalm 42:1-11. Special music will be provided by Ken Bradford, singing "Thou O Lord Art A Shield." The 10 a.m. adult class will be taught by Rev. Shockley. First Presbyterian Church services begin at 8:30 a.m. with Early Church. At 9:30 a.m. Hispanic worship service and Church School will be held. Worship services will be at 11 a.m. with Rev. Peter H. Thomsen delivering a message entitled "What Is Your Purpose?" Passages will be from Deuteronomy, Chapter 10:10-13 of the Old Testament and from the New Testament Luke, Chapter 12:4-7. The church choir will begin their fall season with the anthem entitled "Come, Christians, Join to Sing" by Carl F. Mueller. Coffee fellowship will follow the services. Child care is provided by the church for those who need it. First Presbyterian is at 514 W. Church St. United Methodist This Sunday, Sept. 20, the Ukiah Methodist Church at 270 N. Pine will begin worship services at 10:30 a.m. The topic of the sermon will be "Of Law and Forgiveness," preached by the Rev. John M. Kraps. The scripture reading will be Exodus 20:1-12; Romans 14:5-12: Matthew 18:21-35. Redwood Valley Community "Resisters to Make the Devil Run" is Pastor Steve McCoy's message at the 11 a.m. worship service. Children's classes and three adult classes arc available at 9:45 a.m. Part two of the film, "The Gods of the New Age" will be shown at 6 p.m. All services meet at 951 School Way in Redwood Valley and have nursery provided.' Evangelical At both the 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services, Rev. R.W. Hauser, Western District Superintendent of the Evangelical Free Church of America, will bring an ordination sermon. A local music ensemble called the Summer Singers will provide a mini-concert at both services. At a special 9:45 a.m. service, Associate Pastor David Strcm will be ordained into the Gospel Ministry. Trinity Baptist This Sunday, at the 11 a.m. worship service at Trinity Baptist Church, Carrol Whislcr will continue his scries on "Scr- vanthood." This week his message is titled, "The Discipline of a Servant," and his text is taken from Phil. 2:12-30. Trinity Baptist is located at 900 S. Dora.
