Bode—Robert Christiansen came from his army training camp at Fort Devon, Mass., to spend a 10- day furlough with his mother, Mrs. Blanche Christiansen, and other relatives. Swaledale—Bob Caspers is visiting at the home of his uncle, George Timm, and wife, in Denver, Colo. Otranto—Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Salto, Andreana, Iris, and Susan, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Keller at Cedar Falls. Leland— The Leland Fox club held its 2nd hunt of the season Sunday. No foxes were reported seen. Swaledale — Edwin Ingham of Hastings, Nebr., is visiting his mother, Mrs. Jennie Ingham, and other relatives. Garner—Bella Kurtz is assisting in the office of County Supt. Charles S. Whitney. Mrs. Kurtz formerly served as deputy county superintendent. Crystal Lake—D. L. Wheeler returned to the home of his son-in- law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Zea, here after spending the holiday season with his son, R. L. Wheeler, at Lake Park, 111. Latimer—Mrs. Fred Plagge, Sr., fell at her home and broke her leg near the hip. She was taken to the Lutheran hospital in Hampton where she underwent an operation to set the bone. Mr. Plagge has been ill with an attack of pleurisy. Stacyville—Miss Betty Falk of Milwaukee, former manager of the Falk store in Stacyville, visited Stacyville friends recently. Hanlontowc — LaMarr Eilertson of Kiester, Minn., spent some of his vacation from Luther college, Decorah, with his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Claire Rye. Ackley—Mrs. Kenneth Folkers, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Mrs. W. W. Romanchuck, Chicago, are guests in the home of Mrs. Minnie Folkers. Fredericksburg — Mr. and Mrs. Howard Slick are the parents of a son, born at St. Joseph's hospital at New Hampton Monday. Goodell—Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Carter concluded their holiday vacation visit in the parental Mel Ver Heist home and returned to their home at Ames where the former is a student at Iowa State college. Hanlontovvn — Philip Darland left last week for Phoenix, Ariz. Mrs. Darland is spending a lew days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Brunsvold, before going to Phoenix to join her husband. Kanawha — Mrs. Lenora Munson visited in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Keith Smith, and family at Cedar Rapids. Osa&e — Miss Dorothy Weber, pre-primer instructor in the new Central building, is convalescing at home following major surgery at Mason City during the holidays. During her absence Mrs. Frank C. Chatman is substituting. Stacyville—Honoring Nick Weber on his 75th birthday anniversary, a family dinner was served at his home. Carpenter—Mrs. L. S. McGiUi- vray visited at the home of her sister, Mrs. B. C. Boston, in Waterloo. Mrs. Boston recently underwent a major operation. Latimer—Alva Ennen of Gilmore City spent several days recently with his brother, George Ennen. Nora Springs — Mrs. Christina Hansen went to Rock Falls for 2 weeks' visit in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Kramer, her son- in-law and daughter.
