Simpson High Honor Pupils Are Named SIMPSON - Principal F. W. Jackson Jr. has announced the honor roll for the second six- weeks period for Simpson High school. State, Parish Show Hike In Payrolls BATON ROUGE — Louisiana payrolls subject to social secur-! ity taxes amounted to $708 million during the first quarter of 1964, 16 per cent higher than the first quarter of 1962, according to a report, "County Business Patterns: 1964-Louisiana," issued by the U.S. Department of Commerce. Calcasieu Parish showed 30,-1 140 taxable payrolls in 1964 j compared to 29,270 in 1962. The report is one in a series of state reports which has been shifted to an annual basis to provide each year an updated county-by-county and state picture of the nation's business structure. It includes data on employment, taxable payrolls and the number and employment size of reporting units tor each of the different industries under which nonfann firms are clas- i sified. Gordon Jewelry Buys Stock Of Shreveport Firm HOUSTON, Tex. - Gordon Jewelry Corp. has purchasea all of the capital stock of United Jewelers and Distributors Inc., wholesale jewelry company, and its affiliated companies of Shreveport, according to Aron S. Gordon, executive vice president. According to Gordon, sales for the United Jewelers group for its fiscal year ended March 31, were $4,572,770 and net profit after taxes was $243,960.
