THE CHILLIWACK PROGRESS, Friday, July 7, 2006 41 Obituaries Murray James Edward Murray James Edward Apps passed away on June 30, 2006 at Chilliwack General Hospital at hamate Stroke Foundation of BC. Dignity 604-793-4555 Woodlawn a age 57 years. He was born APPS November 11, 1948 in Chilliwack, BC. Murray is survived by his wife Tina Apps; children, Teresa (Jason) Bodo, Trena (Tim) White and Chad (Kathy) Apps; his mother, Marwayne Apps; brother, Wayne (Laura) Apps; grandchildren, Aaron White, Brooklyn Bodo, Kylie Bodo and Kristen Bodo. He was predeceased by his father John Apps, brother, Dennis Apps and sister in law, Joan Apps.

Murray spent '38-plus years working at Dairyland, starting as a delivery driver and working his way up to warehouse manager. In 1981, he founded the Chilliwack Softball Association, coordinating the major adult softball league's use of diamonds and other needs. Throughout the 70's and 80's Murray was a tireless worker, giving his time to adult and youth sports including softball and soccer. In 1983, Murray was chosen "Sportsman of the Murray could often be found fishing on the Fraser River with Nicky Basok and friends. Murray's passions were feeding and enjoying the birds and squirrels in his backyard and relaxing at the end of the day with a good book.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday July 7, 2006 from 7 9 pm at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at 11:00 am at the Chilliwack Alliance Church, 8700 Young Rd; Pastor Peter Vincent officiating. Cora Evanoff, late of Chilliwack, BC, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2006 at the age of 89 in Pleasant View Care Home in Mission, BC. She is lovingly remembered by her two sons: Jerry (Joyce) and Ed (Joanne) and grandchildren Laurie (Paul) and Brad, She was predceased by her husband Nick, twin sister Sally, sister Evelyn, and brothers, George and John. Viewing will be prior to the service, which will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Henderson's Funeral Home at 34537 Marshall Abbotsford, BC. I HENDERSON'S 604-854-5534 GRIGG Donald Oliver Donald Oliver Grigg, late of Chilliwack, passed away July 5, 2006 in Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 78.

He was born GRIGG September 6, 1927 in Chilliwack and had lived in this area his whole life. He was a retired dairy farmer and had farmed for 22 years in East Chilliwack on Grigg Road. He was involved in the lumber industry also. He loved the outdoors and was very involved in the Fish Game Club. He was also a member of Ducks Unlimited and the Forresters.

He was a member of the Chilliwack Alliance Church for 50 years. A private family interment will be held prior to the Memorial Service. A Memorial Service will be held at the Chilliwack Alliance Church on July 12, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Brian Derksen officiating assisted by Rev.

Harold Throness. He is survived by his wife, Helene Grigg, married for 52 years and their 3 children, Doreen (Dan) Rennick, Jim (Gale) Grigg and Dolores (Christian) Girard; 6 grandchildren, Krystal Rennick, Tiffany Rennick, Jynelle Grigg, Taylor Grigg, Rachelle Girard and Emily Girard. He was predeceased by his father, James Oliver Grigg and mother, Uzzella Grigg. If friends so desire, donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. I HENDERSON'S 604-792-1344 Alexander "Alex" K. Howie passed away peacefully on June 27, 2006 at the Waverly of Chilliwack at age 98 years. He was born August 24, 1907 at Grand Mound, Washington State. Alex is survived by his sister Mary McVeigh of Mission; daughter, Marian (Ed) Hegarty of Gloucester, his son Gordon (Doreen) Howie of Abbotsford; his grandchildren, Joanne (Luis) Querioz and Alisa (John) Sparks of California, Galen Howie of Japan and Scott (Lori) Howie of Abbotsford; and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by Ruby, his wife of 60 years in 1999; brothers: Jim, Wallie and Johnny; and sister, Jean Sampson.

Alex moved to Chilliwack in 1924 and started his successful electrical contracting business in the 1930's. He loved to sing and participated in many choirs. He had many hobbies including gardening, boating and piloting small airplanes. He touched many peoples lives over the years. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at 1:30 pm from Cooke's Presbyterian Church, 45825 Wellington Ave; Rev.

Dignity 604-793-4555 Woodlawn INNES John Brown It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of John Brown Innes on July 4th, 2006 at Crossroads Hospice INNES in Port Moody. A dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he will be sadly missed by his loving partner and wife of 48 years Elizabeth; his devoted children; Cheryl and Bill Webb, Sandy Innes, Scott Innes and Sabrina Daniells, Cathy and Dave Wood; his grandchildren; Billy and Bobby Webb, Ashlee, Matthew, and Cailee Innes, Madelyne and Meghan Innes, Jason, Tyler and Scott Wood; his mother in-law Nancy Kawalilak; his sisters Jean (Elmer) Buchanan and Mary York; brother in law Ralph (Nancy) Kaye; and by many loving friends and family. (Kith and Kin here and abroad.) John was born in Vancouver, BC September 3rd, 1935 to John (Jack) and Mary Innes. He met and fell in love with Liz and they married on November 23rd.

1957. Thev lived and raised their family in various communities around the Lower Mainland collecting neighbours and friends along the way. John began a highly successful career with B.C. Tel in 1955 where he held various positions in the organization, beginning as a Cable Splicer and retiring after 37 years from the position of Director of Environment. John was a recipient of the Governor General's award for his ground breaking work in corporate environmental responsibilities.

John was very active in all the communities that he lived in. His volunteer activities included; Vancouver City Police Dog training, Richmond Volunteer Fire Department, Kinsmen, Coquitlam Minor Soccer, Coquitlam Minor Lacrosse, Adana's Lacrosse team, BC Summer Games, Lindell Beach Residence Association, and St. Mary's Parish Council. He was an active supporter and promoter of his children's and grandchildren's activities and interests. John's passions were; his family and friends, his dogs, all things Scottish, golf, fishing, cards, travel, a wee dram of scotch (single malt), Cultus lake, and a good laugh.

He will be sorely missed for his quick wit, infectious smile, and his welcoming personality. He put up a courageous fight against cancer for two and half years surprising many with his strength of spirit to live his life to the fullest and making every day count. Heartfelt thanks to; Drs. Richard J. Finley and Mike Grunow, the Chilliwack Palliative team and community nurses, the amazing Crossroad Hospice Nurses and team (they were angels among us.) A funeral mass will be held on Monday July 10th, 2006, 11:00 am at St.

Mary's Church (8909 Mary St. Chilliwack) Celebrant Father Craig Scott. Refreshments to follow in the Church hall. I HENDERSON'S 604-792-1344 JARDINE David (Oct. 9, 1947 June 28, It is with sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Dave at his residence in Misison, B.C. Dave is survived by his loving son, Chris (Valerie), and grandchildren, Curtis, Ruby and Shannon. He also leaves behind his mother, Maisie; brothers: Michael and Rob and their families. He was predeceased by his father, Alexander, in 1986.

Dave was an exceptional sportsman who excelled in football, baseball, golf, weightlifting and fishing. Valley View Funeral Home 1-604-596-8866 MILLAR Annie Gallagher Peacefully, with her children by her side, Annie Gallaghar Millar passed away on June 28, 2006 at the Bradley Centre in Chilliwack, at age 78 years. She was born April 26, 1928 in Dumfries, Scotland. Annie is survived by her son David (Judy), Chilliwack and daughter Lynda Conway (Tim), Oakville, ON; grandchildren, Shawn (Christine), Jeff, Matt, Jennifer (Kristopher), Chantelle and Amanda; great grandson Chase and many loving relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Denis.

A Memorial will be held on Tuesday July 4, 2006 at 2:00 pm at the Bradley Centre, Chilliwack Hospital; Rev. Seamus Mackrell officiating. If friends and family so desire, memorial donations to the MS Society or to the E.C.U at Chilliwack General Hospital would be appreciated. many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, three sisters, family and friends. Mom was born and raised in Alberta to a Norwegian family of nine children experiencing many happy days as well as the hard and turbulent times of the dirty 30's and the Second World War.

Mom married her moved to BC and raised four children, making their retirement years in Chilliwack. In Mom's younger years, she was a hard worker, helping Dad in the Mink business, remodeling homes, waitressing, sales clerk at the McLures 5 to Dollar Store in Maple Ridge, and at a Chilliwack health food store. During the "family years" Mom cooked, sewed, gardened, canned, entertained, kept a lovely home with a flare for decorating, loved to dance and loved to go garage saleing. Mom was a "beautiful woman" who loved fashion, hats, jewelry and red hair. Mom always kept us sparkly clean and dressed-up for special occasions and family dinners when we could all be together.

Mom appreciated a good joke and kept her quick wit, sense of humour, and her red hair until the NELSON Edith Nelson (nee Engebretson) (Oct. 1922 June 28, 2006) Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Marvin, of almost 50 years, and her beautiful Daughter" Pat. Mom leaves to mourn, her son: Doug (Marlene); Marlys (Jim), Darlene (Jerry), end. Mom loved us all fiercely and unconditionally and missed Dad and Pat unbearably.

It was time for her to go and is reunited with them and her God now. Among our many lessons learned, Mom taught us about respect and love of family. We thank and love you "Grama" and Until we meet again: your Sunny Boy, Devoted Daughter; Baby Girl and families, xoxoxoxox Thank you to the staff at Eden for the special care given to Mom; her makeup, hair, jokes and TLC. HENDERSON'S 604-792-1344 NELSON, Rolf (Februray 10, 1929) It is with great sadnessweannounce the death of Rolf Nelson, formerly of Winnipeg, MB, now retired in Chilliwack, B.C.He lost his battle NELSON with cancer. He will be remembered by his wife, Gail; daughters, Lisa and Andrea; son-in-law, Ola Vaage; two grandsons, Stian and Erik and son, Kirk. Our thanks to his sister-in-law, Pat Day and niece, Jan (Shell) Murray who have been so supportive. He is survived by his sister, Elsa Halldorson; brothers, Robert (Verna), Earl (Gladys) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers, Adolphe and Olaf; and sister, Margaret.

Rolf especially enjoyed his seven years as a volunteer at The Bookman book store. His love of books was his passion. Our thanks to Dr. Ralph Jones and the wonderful staff at Chilliwack General Hospital. At Rolf's request there will be no funeral.

Friends may make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of their choice. OLDAKER Ethel (Oct. 25, 1927 June 28, 2006) With our deepest regret we announce the sudden passing of Ethel Oldaker on June 28, 2006. Ethel is survived by her loving husband, Arthur and their children, Mary Anne, Howard (Diane), Linda (Kevin), as well as eight grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. We will remember her amazing spirit and zest for life.

She brought joy to all that knew her and she will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the B.C. Cancer Foundation. PENDER Beryl (Linda) Ann Beryl (Linda) Ann Pender, (April 29, 1935), passed away peacefully after her courageous battle with cancer on July 3rd, 2006. Linda will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Tom and daughter, Pippa.

Also, by many relatives and friends in England, Canada and Australia. Linda's request was for cremation and no service. Many thanks to Drs. Finch, Patel and Potter and the medical staff at The Christine Morrison Hospice at The Mission Memorial Hospital. SHINE Robert Carman Robert Carman Shine passed away suddenly in Thunderbay, Ontario on July 3, 2006 at the age of 79 years.

Robert had a great sense of humour. He is survived by his loving family: wife, Phyllis of 58 years; two daughters: Joanne (David) Rife, Duncan, B.C., Judy (Anthony) Marr, Chilliwack, B.C.; two sons: Richard (Judy) Shine, Sooke, B.C., Darrell (Christine) Shine, Brandon, Manitoba; six grandchildren; five, great-grandchildren; one sister, Emily, and one brother, Lester, both of Ontario; many nieces and nephews. "He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew IF 604-792-1344 HENDERSON'S STEPHENSON Frank Edmund Frank Edmund Stephenson passed away at home on Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at age 70 years. Frank will be sadly missed by his family; STEPHENSON his loving wife of 55 years Fay (nee Carrington); his son Paul; daughter Anita; grandchildren Robert and Chelsea; brother George (Bernice) and many nieces and nephews. Born in Southwell, England, Frank grew up with 5 brothers and sisters.

In 1951, he married Fay and they immigrated to Canada in 1957. They made White Rock their home until their retirement and subsequent move to Chilliwack. Frank worked at the Surrey Municipality for 33 years as Superintendent of the Plumbing Division. We love and miss you Frank, and pray that you have found the peace you deserve.
