Josh Fedoruk, 19, was convicted of aggravated assault and possession of stolen property, and sentenced to a 23-month conditional sentence and 250 hours of community service some of which time should be spent volunteering at retirement homes. This decision, handed down by Supreme Court Judge M. Koenigsberg in Vancouver Monday, has prompted the night watchman's son to warn seniors. Ron Daley, son of the victim, has designed posters of Mr.

Fedoruk's face and a "Seniors Beware!" headline on top of it. He has distributed the flyers to every retirement home in Chilliwack as well as bus stops, phone booths and malls in the area. Outside the courtroom, he handed the poster to Mr. Fedoruk's father. "I told him 'your son got lucky here but everybody in Chilliwack will be aware of what your son Ron Daley said.

"I wanted to hammer home to him that people who get off easy tend to re-offend." "We thought this was a great opportunity for them to upgrade," says Mayor Clint Hames, and replace the outdated Rosedale station, which helps push natural gas from northern B.C. along a pipeline to Huntingdon near the border. The company, formerly Westcoast Energy is expanding its gas-carrying capacity by building eight pipeline "loops" to meet rising market demands.

The Rosedale loop is about 3.5 kilometres long and lies within the Agricultural Land Reserve. The city is being asked to support the company's request for the non-farm use. Mayor Hames says while the city agrees with the pipeline's aim to ensure there's enough natural gas to meet residential and industrial demand, there is concern Mayor Clint HAMES about emissions from the outdated Rosedale station, which could be cut in half by upgrading its technology. The city will get more tax revenue due to the expansion project, he says, but "you trade that kind of thing in the quality of our air." He says the city was willing to keep revenues at the current level, if Duke would agree to enter a partnership to upgrade the Rosedale station, but got "absolutely nothing" from a company official during a council meeting Monday.
