Approximately 100 pioneers are expected to attend the event, which honors Arizonans and other pioneers who resided in Arizona prior to Dec. 31,1890. The original reunion was held in 1921 and honored 2,000 early day settlers. Since then, it has become a traditional event where old friends and contemporaries can get to- gather. -Lee Hover, director of advertising for The Republic, will be master of ceremonies. The day-long activities in- dude a short program, Western beef barbecue, music by the Phoenix High School Red Coat Band, singing and dancing. Church plans memorial tor Dr. King A communitywide memorial service commemorating the first anniversary of the death of Dr. Martin Luther King will be held from noon until 1 p.m. tomorrow in First Institutional Baptist Church, 1141 E. Jefferson. The Rev. Robert Nesby, minister of the church, will read excerpts from the writings of Dr. King and records of his speeches will be played. A special memorial liturgy will be used. At the service, worshipers will be invited to participate in contributing to an endowment for the Martin Luther King professorship at Colgate Rochester Divinity School, Bexley Hall, Rochester, N.Y. Four fires hit Manila, Pasay City at once MANILA (UPI) - Four fires hit Manila and nearby Pasay City within hours of each other yesterday, causing damage estimated at $2.5 million. The Pasay fire destroyed three residential and commercial blocks and left 10,000 persons homeless. The Manila blaze gutted an office building, the priva'tely-owned East Asia College and 60 houses in a nearby residential district.
