Buell RAYVILLE Mrs. Matha V. Weekley Buell, 92, Dairy Road, Parkton, wife of the late George R. Buell and formerly of Rayville, died Saturday at 11:10 p.m. at York Hospital.

A native of Rayville, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Louisa Wilson Weekley. She belonged to Pine Grove United Methodist Church, and was a member of Daughters of America of Dundalk, Md. Surviving are: A daughter, Mrs. Annas Lewis, Parkton, with whom she resided; a son, Lawrence G. Buell, Kingsville, four grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs.

Olive Chambers, Baltimore, and a brother, Harry C. Weekley, Dillon, Montana. The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Hartenstein Mortuary, Second at Franklin Street, New Freedom, with her former pastor, the Rev. M.

B. Heiland. officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Mrs.

Tessie E. Chesgreen FAWN GROVE Mrs. Tessie E. Chesgreen, 82, formerly of Fawn Grove and wife of the late Milton R. Chesgreen, died Saturday at 1:10 a.m.

at Colonial Manor Nursing Home, York, where she had resided for a number of years. A daughter of the late Frank and Susan Tompkins Wilson, Mrs. Chesgreen belonged to Stewartstown United Methodist Church. Surviving are: Two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Easton, 351 W.

King York; Mrs. Helen Shetter, 114 E. Cottage Place, York; two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Hostler, Fawn Grove, and Mrs. Lida Donohue, 468 Salem York.

Her minister, the Rev. William J. Lippert, will officiate at private funeral services on Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Kenneth W. Orsburn Funeral Home, Stewartstown.

Burial will be in Fawn Grove Cemetery. J. Kenneth Grove FAWN GROVE J. Kenneth Grove, 65, of 258 S. Ninth Philadelphia, formerly of Fawn Grove, who was assistant manager of the Ben Franklin Hotel in Philadelphia, was fatally stricken Friday in Philadelphia while walking his dog.

The Medical Examiner for Philadelphia attributed death to natural causes. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel B. Grove.

Surviving is a brother, Edward B. Grove, Fawn Grove RD 1. The Rev. Carl C. Helt, pastor of Fawn United Methodist Church, will officiate at funeral services today at 2 p.m.

Hammond, 47, husband of Mrs. Carolyn H. Hammond, 1132 Valley View Road, died Friday at 5:30 p.m. at York Hospital. Mrs.

Hammond was district manager of the Laboratory Procedures Division of Upjohn for which he was previously a salesman. He was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church. He served in the Navy in World War Il. Mr. Hammond was born in Philadelphia, a son of the late Clarence E.

and Myrtle Sprowles Hammond. Surviving also are two children, David B. and Mary Beth Hammond, both at home: D.C.; Mrs. Dolores J. Snedegar, 250 Clover Lane Drive, Manchester; Mrs.

Eugene Marz, Coraopolis, and Gary E. Smith, Manchester RD 10 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a brother a and three sisters, Spencer Smith, Linville; Mrs. Pauline Loker, Harrisonburg, Mrs. Katherine Loker, Mt. Crawford, and Mrs.

Mildred E. Arnold Olphin, 63, of Red Lion RD 1, wife of the late Nolan B. Olphin, died Monday at 7 p.m. at York Hospital, after a one-year illness. A daughter of the late Jacob S.

and Martha Haugh Arnold, she was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and of its Sunday School. Surviving are: Two children, Bruce L. Olphin, 409 Wise N. Lee Olphin, Red Lion RD six grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Pansy Heindel, 106 W.

Lancaster St. Her minister, the Rev. Lyle S. Bundy, will officiate at funeral services on Thursday at 10 a.m. from the Burg Funeral Home, 134 W.

Broadway. Burial will be in St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery, near New Bridgeville. Laura Marie Mundis RED LION Laura Marie Mundis, nine- month-old daughter of William L. and Patricia Bupp Mundis, Red Lion RD 1, died Saturday morning at Hershey Medical Center, after undergoing major heart surgery.

Surviving also are the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. P.

Mundis, Red Lion RD 3, and the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas L. Bupp, Red Lion RD 1. The Rev.

Lottie M. Senft Mrs. Lottie M. Senft, 91, widow of John Senft, died Monday at 3:05 p.m. at York Hospital.

Mrs. Senft lived at 2230 Baltimore Pike with her daughter Mrs. Henry J. Fritz, and son-in-law. Also surviving is a grandson.

Born in Lancaster, Mrs. Senft was a daughter of the late Harry C. and Mary A. Kitch Hoin. Mrs.

Senft was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Her pastor, Rev. Richard C. Klick, will officiate at the funeral Thursday at 10 a.m.

at the William E. Small Funeral Home, Roosevelt and Madison Aves. Interment will be in St. Peter's (Leschey's). Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the York County unit, American Cancer Society. Melvin Bentzel Melvin Bentzel, 68, died Saturday at Manila, Philippines. A native Yorker, he resided at Riverside, N.J. He was a son of the late Daniel and Alice Bixler Bentzel. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs.

Thomas E. Peot, Manila, Philippines; a sister, Mrs. Caroline Mayer, Riverside, N.J.; and a brother, Ervin Bentzel, 123 Fairview Dover. Funeral arrangements were incomplete. Joseph S.

Slenker YORKANA Joseph S. Slenker, 76, husband of Mrs. Edna Mae Crumbling Slenker, Hillside Trailer Park, York RD 9, died Saturday at 1:10 p.m. while visiting with his next door neighbor, Marlin Emswiler. He had been under the care of a physician for some time.

Mr. Slenker, a Navy Career man, served in both World War I and II, completing nearly 40 years service prior to his retirement. Born in Windsor Township, a son of the late Oliver and Sarah Bicking Slenker, he had been a watchman with the Standard Wire Cloth York. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Cora Wert and Mrs.

Maggie Paules, both of 943 Prospect York; Mrs. Alma 937 Prospect York: a brother, William Slenker, Chicago: three stepsons, Thomas Bupp, Windsor RD 1: John Bortner. 1325 E. Philadelphia York: George Ellis High Rock. and four step grandchildren.

Atkin, 3205 E. Market died Monday at 12:48 a.m. at Barley Convalescent Home. He was 73. Mr.

Atkin retired four years ago as manager of Fellers, in the York County Shopping Center. He was a member of Ohev Sholom Synagogue. Surviving also are a daughter, Mrs. Florence Wechsler. 771 Glendale Road; two grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs.

Janet Schwaid, New York City; Mrs. Dora Katz and Mrs. Betty Stern, both of Miami. and a brother, Harry Atkin, West Palm Beach, Fla. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m.

Mrs. Willis E. Burns JEFFERSON Mrs. Viola E. Burns, 80, wife of Willis E.

Burns, 22 York died Sunday at 6:12 a.m. at Hanover General Hospital, where she was a patient two days. Mrs. Burns, daughter of the late Nathan and Minerva Rinehart Doll, was a 50-yearmember of Trinity Lutheran Church, Jefferson. She belonged to the Ladies' Auxiliary of Seven Valleys Fire Co.

and was a member of Seven Valleys Leisure Club. Mrs. Burns was a retired employe of S. and S. Sewing plant, Jefferson.

Surviving also are a daughter, Mrs. Ortha Barten, Fairfax, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Sauter Funeral Home, 175 N. Main Spring Grove.

Privett, seven-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Privett, Darlington, died Monday at 9:15 a.m. at University Hospital, Baltimore.

(Bud) Thomas died Saturday at 11:05 a.m. at her home, 240 Grantley after a short illness. Mrs. Thomas was born in York, a daughter of the late Edward R. and Minnie Haack Spangler.

She leaves her husband and a sister, Miss Ethel M. Spangler, of the Grantley Street address. She was a member of Memorial United Church of Christ. Her pastor, the Rev. Glenn Hagen, will conduct the funeral service today at 2 p.m.

Mrs. Welsh was a machine operator for Riverside Foundry Co. Inc. She was a member of Locust Street United Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of Wrightsville Fire Co. She was born in Columbia, a daughter of Mrs.

75. husband of Mary E. Lecrone Gross, 2501 S. Queen died at :40 a.m. Monday at the Cross Keys Brethren Home, where he had been a guest since March 25.

He had worked as a carpenter in the York area and was a member of Carpenters Union of York, Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, York County Chapter 67, Izaak Walton League, Goodwill Fire Spry, and First Church of the Brethren. He was last employed as an attendant at the Yorktowne Hotel until he became disabled in 1967. He was born in Manchester, a son of the late William and Mahela Weidman Gross. Surviving also are a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth M.

Lillian V. Hedrick Smith, died Saturday at 6:05 a.m. at Baltimore County General Hospital, where he was admitted earlier in the day. Born in Baltimore County, a son of the late Joseph W. and Catharine Blouse Smith, he had resided at Freeland until 12 years ago when he moved to Baltimore.

He was a self-employed plasterer and belonged to Woodlawn Golden Age Group of Baltimore. Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Rita C. Dilworth, 6424 Dogwood Road, Baltimore, with whom he resided; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The Rev.

Burnell A. Dellinger HALLAM Mrs. Anna S. Dietz Dellinger, 58, wife of Burnell A. Dellinger, 144 S.

Prospect died Saturday at 5:05 p.m. at Memorial Osteopathic Hospital. Mrs. Dellinger was employed by Hellam Hosiery Co. She was a member of St.

Paul United Methodist Church and Sunday School, and was vice president of the Ladies Paul Weller Dies Saturday PARKTON, Md. Paul W. Weller, 63, husband of Mrs. Ethel Liebno Weller, Lentz Road, and owner and operator from 1947 to 1962 of the White Hall Clover Farm Store, died Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at York Hospital where he was admitted that morning.

A native of Sparrows Point, he was a son of the late Frank W. and Nellie E. Kemp Weller, and had retired in January 1973 as a department manager with Montgomery Ward and Co. at Towson. Mr.

Weller belonged to Stabler's United Methodist Church and was a member of Palestine Lodge 189, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. Cantonsville, and the Tall of Lebanon, Baltimore. At the time of his death he was treasurer of Seventh District Democratic Club of Baltimore. He was a president of Parkton Rotary Club and a past president of Hereford High School PTA. Surviving also are three children, Paul W.

Weller Lynchburg, Mrs. Peggy Lue Kline, Cockeysville and Richard L. Weller, Baltimore: three grandchildren, and a brother, C. Roy Weller, Baltimore. Wilbur A.

Brenneman WINDSOR Kruvin W. Brenneman, 88, husband of the late Mrs. Carrie A. Houston Brenneman, of Stewartstown and formerly of Windsor, died Saturday at 5:17 p.m. 'at York Hospital.

A son of the late William and Sarah Brenneman, he had resided at Windsor until moving to reside with a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Henry E. Brenneman, Fulton Avenue, Stewartstown. He belonged to Grace United Methodist Church.

Surviving are six children, Mrs. Clarence Keener, East High Street; Elwood Brenneman, 419 Wise Red Lion; Alvin W. Brenneman, 54 First Red Lion; Henry E. Brenneman, Stewartstown, L. Brenneman, Dixie with whom he Wallace Drive, Red Lion; Harry R.

Mitzel, husband of Mrs. Flora P. Ness Mitzel, 230 S. Main died at 9:05 a.m. Saturday at York Hospital where he had been admitted Wednesday.

He was 80. He was born near Dallastown, son of the late Edward and Amanda Shearer Mitzel. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and also attended Red Lion Bible Church and held membership in the Yoe Fire Co. and the Southern York County Male Chorus. He was employed at Red Lion Area High School as head of the maintenance department until 1965.

Besides his widow, he leaves a son, William C. Mitzel, Wrightsville RD1; a grandson; two great- granddaughters, and these brothers and sisters: Charles L. Mitzel, Red Lion RD Mrs. Esther Johnson, 71 W. Broad Mrs.

Orletta Kreidler, 113 N. Park Dallastown, and Sterling Mitzel, 428 E. Main Dallastown. The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the Eberly Funeral Home, 104 W.

Vertie A. Miller Bowman, 84, wife of the late John G. Bowman, formerly of New Freedom, died Sunday at 2:40 p.m. at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.

Minor Bowman, Oakland Road, Freeland, with whom she resided. A native of Edinburg, she was a daughter of the late Reuben and Mary Funkhouser Miller, and belonged to St. John Lutheran Church of New Freedom, and of the Happy Hour Circle. Also surviving are: Another son, John G. Bowman Freeland; six grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs.

Wolf RD1, was dead on arrival at York Hospital at 8:57 p.m. Friday. A native of Linsville, he was a son of the late Jacob and Sarah Dove Smith. He retired five years ago from the EysterWeiser York, where he was employed as a molder. Mr.

Smith was a member of Madison Avenue Church of the Brethren, York. He also leaves four children, Leroy W. Smith, Washington, COLUMBIA Earl T. Strickler, 65, a York County native who was an international authority on watch and clock collecting, died Sunday at 8:30 p.m. in St.

Joseph's Hospital, Lancaster, after a three-day heart illness. Strickler was the husband of Mary Jane Kurtz Strickler and resided at 1225 Manor Columbia. He was a son of the late A. Millard and Anna L. Jacobs Strickler of Lower Chanceford Township.

He was managing director of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors Museum at Columbia and belonged to many related, professional, civic and social In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Thomas and Rick, both at home. Strickler held fellowship in the Royal Society of Arts, British Horological Institute, Ancient Monuments Society and the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. He was: a diplomate of the Horological Institute of America, held the honorary title of Master Watchmaker. was a member of the Japanese Society of Chronometry, a landsmann of the Allemagne Korporation and a director of the Saito-Samelius Library. He received the Wisdom Society Award of Honor for research in Education, the San Fernando Valley Engineer's Council 1974 Engineering Award for meritorious achievement in that field and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers 1974 Distinguished Contributions Award.

Strickler was a member also of the International Platform Association, the Administrative Management Society, the American Society and four sisters, Mrs. Dorothy McFarland and Mrs. Phyllis Swarr, both of Columbia; Mrs. Betty Schwartz, Philadelphia; and Mrs. Mary Dellet, Columbia RD 2.
