Daily Record, Monday, Dec. 4, 1972 York area deaths Chauncey H. Barnhart RED LION Chauncey H. Barnhart, 80, of 122 E. Minnesota Orange City, formerly of Red Lion, died Saturday in Orange City Nursing Home after an illness of seven months.

Mr. Barnhart, husband of Mrs. Letha Orwig Barnhart, was born in Dallastown, a son of the late Leander and Ida Fix Barnhart. He belonged to the United Methodist Church of Orange City. Also surviving are: A son, Kenneth Barnhart, Orlando; two grandchildren, four great grandchildren; four brothers, Merle, Emory, Ralph and Floyd Barnhart, all of Red Lion, and three sisters, Mrs.

Viola Fulton, Stewartstown; Mrs. Dorothy Knisley, East Prospect, and Mrs Mamie Kohler, Red Lion. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday from the Burg Funeral Home, 134 W. Broadway.

Officiating will be the Rev. Thomas M. Burns pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Yoe Union Cemetery.

Sherman F. Sprenkle DALLASTOWN- Sherman F. Sprenkle, 70, husband of Mrs. Ida Kauffman Sprenkle, died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday at his home, Dallastown RD 1.

His death was caused by a cardiac respiratory arrest, the county coroner's office reported. Mr. Sprenkle, a self-employed well driller, was a son of Mrs. Bertha Rider Sprenkle, Dallastown RD1, and the late James Sprenkle. Also surviving are: Five children, Elden and Keith Sprenkle, both of Adllastown RD Mrs.

Karen Miller, Seven Valleys RD Dwight Sprenkle, 306 West High Red Lion, and Anita Sprenkle, at home; six grandchildren and a brother, Wilbert Sprenkle, Dallastown RD 1. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the F.B. Olewiler Funeral Home, 145 East Broadway, Red Lion. The Rev.

I R. Jack Rhen, pastor of Dallastown United Church of Christ Charge, will officiate. Burial will be in Dallastown Union Cemetery. Glenn E. White NEWBERRYTOWN Glenn Elwood White, 33, Etters RD 2, died at his home at 11:30 p.m.

Friday. He was a son of Lloyd White and the late Mrs. Ruth White and was employed by Newberry Construction Co. He was an Army veteran and a member of James A. Danner Post 537, VFW.

Besides his father, he is survived by: Two sons, Lennie and Michael White, both of York RD maternal grandmother, Mrs. Oliver Walter, Manchester RD four sisters, Mrs. Doris Kennedy and Mrs. Betty Hawkins, both of York RD Mrs. Vera Miller, Edgewood Road; Mrs.

Sue Ann Routson, Martinsville, two brothers, Lloyd White Jr. and Dennis White, both of Manchester RD 2. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Nelson E. Urich Funeral Home, Lewisberry, with the Rev.

B. A. Harris officiating. Burial will be in Strinestown Cemetery. E.

Franklin Wise RED LION E. Franklin Wise, 93, formerly of 327 S. Main died at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Golden Age Nursing Home, Hanover. The husband of the late Mrs.

Ada Trone Wise, he was a son of the late John and Amanda Blouse Wise. He belonged to St. John's United Church of Christ. Surviving are: A daughter, Mrs. Irene Livingston, North Canton, Ohio; one grandchild, one great grandchild and two great great grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the F.B. Olewiler Funeral Home, 145 E. Broadway. Burial will be in Red Lion Cemetery.

Reginald M. Reed HANOVER Reginald M. Reed, 52, of Grandview Road, Hanover RD 2, died at 11:45 p.m. Saturday at York Hospital, where he had been for a month. He was son of Harry W.

and Eva Steick Reed, 118 E. Middle and husband of Mrs. Ruth N. Roser Reed. Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by: A brother, Charles Reed, 24 Centennial a sister, Vivian Reed, 118 E.

Middle and his step-grandmother, Mrs. Emily Reed, Shiloh. He was a tookmaker at Buchron Tool and Die and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, York St. A WWII Air Force veteran, he belonged to VFW Post 2506, Eagle Fire Cumberland Valley Firemen's Association, Firemen's Association of York County and York County Fish and Game Association.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, 269 Frederick St. by his pastor, the Rev. Jack R. Hoffman.

Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Mrs. Robert W. Hartman HANOVER Mrs. Nellie M.

Hartman, 192 Second died 6:15 a.m. Sunday at Hanover General Hospital, where she had been since Oct. 26. She was 69. She was a daughter of the late Mr.

and Mrs. Frank Smith. She is survived by: Her husband, Robert W. Hartman; a son, W. Sherwood Hartman, Reedsville; and two granddaughters.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, York St. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, 269 Frederick by her pastor, the Rev. Carroll C. Luckenbaugh.

Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Mrs. Norman Shipley Mrs. Gertrude I. Shipley, 76, wife of Norman Shipley, died Friday at her home, 2828 N.

George St. She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Emigsville. She is also survived by: A son, William F. Shipley, York RD 1, one grandchild and three greatgrandchildren. Her pastor, the Rev.

Paul Smeltzer, will officiate at funeral services on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Morgan E. Frey Funeral Home, 1223 N. George St. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Clyde J. Jones Clyde J. Jones, 54, husband of Thelma Wingert Jones, died Saturday at his home, 543 W. Princess St. Mr.

Jones was born in Tower City, son of the late Ray and Jennie Mae Young Jones. He was employed at the Sheltered Workshop in York. ALso surviving are a brother, Kenneth E. Jones, Phoenix, and two sisters, Mrs. Leah Wyrick, 1218 W.

Princess and Mrs. Helen Bair, 152 Eastland Ave. His pastor, the Rev. Richard Welliver of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, will officiate at funeral services Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 E.

Market St. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Victor J. Bortner RED LION Victor J.

Bortner, 89, formerly of 151 S. Franklin died Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at Rest Haven-York He was the husband of the late Mrs. Alice Emenheiser Bortner, and a son of the late Levi and Mary Raffensberger Bortner. He is survived by: Three children, Elmer Bortner, Windsor RD Mrs.

Edgar Mundis, 50 E. High Woodrow W. Bortner, Winsor RD 17 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren; a brother, Elmer Bortner, 828 E. Prospect three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Shaeffer, East Market Street; Mrs.

Rosie Ememhiser, 906 Mt. Rose, and Millard. Yorker speaks at home health agencies parley Mrs. Ruth M. Knight, executive directress of the Visiting Nurse Association of York and York County; Evelyn Eby, public health nursing supervisor, and Mrs.

Geneva Meisky, team leader, were three of more than 200 representatives of home health agencies from the eastern United States who attended a two-day meeting at Atlantic City on Nov. 17 and 18. Among the speakers was J. Dean Kaltenborn, speech pathologist and hearing therapist with the Easter Seal Society for Crippled Children and Adults of York County and contract therapist for the York VNA. Kaltenborn spoke on "Speech and Hearing Therapy in the Community Health Agency." The meeting was sponsored by the Council and Assembly of Home Health Agencies and Community Health Services of the National League for Nursing.

Beaver widow of Dr. Urban H. Hershey, who was the former organist and choir director at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, died Sunday at 1:20 p.m. at Rest HavenYork.

Born in Annville, daughter of the late Henry and Sarah Weltmer Herr, she was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Fred J. Stauffer, 106 S.

No viewing requested. Deaths Carl Leroy Holpp JACOBUS Carl Leroy Holpp, 42, husband of Mrs. Mary Edith Hottle Holpp, 9 Greenbriar Drive, died Saturday morning at his home. He was born in West Virginia, son of Mrs. Alice Wilford Holpp, Sardis, Ohio, and the late Lester Holpp.

He formerly resided in Peoria, Ill. Surviving besides his widow and mother are: five children, Mrs. George Cox and Mrs. Vickie Florence, both of Alexandria, Michael Carla Lee and Richard Couri Holpp, all at home; four grandchildren, and two brothers, Bill Holpp, California, and James Holpp, Ohio. Mr.

Holpp was a member of Salem United Church of Christ. He was general supervisor of quality control at Caterpillar Tractor and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Eberly Funeral Home, 104 W. Main Dallastown, with the Rev.

Hershner Mrs. Vada Schrom Hershner, wife of Emory L. Hershner, 2290 Wilt Drive, died Sunday at 4:40 a.m. at York Hospital. She was 64.

Born in York, she was a daughter of the late Mrs. Edith Schrom Naylor and step daughter of the late Charles E. Naylor. She was employed by Bear's Department Store for 16 years, before her retirement in 1967. Besides her husband, she is survived by: A son, Emory J.

Hershner, Dallastown RD three daughters, Mrs. Mary P. Lehman, 2242 Deininger Road; Mrs. Alice M. Hagerman, 3770 Laurel Lane; Mrs.

Janet E. Munchel, 535 Ardmore Lane; 10 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Marian E. Senft, 177 Lincoln St. and Mrs.

Sielbeck DELTA Clarence H. Sielbeck, 59, husband of Mrs. Clara L. Sielbeck, died Sunday at 6 a.m. at his home, Delta RD 2.

He had been employed by Bechtel Corp. for 19 years, and was a construction superintendent at the Peach Bottom site for five years. He was a World War II veteran and a member of Slate Ridge Post 182, American Legion and of John S. Murphy Post 7130, VFW. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs.

Lydia Canada, and Mrs. Elenor Winter, both of Ann Arbor, two grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond and Oscar Sielbeck, both of Metropolis, Ill. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10. a.m. at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel, Ann Arbor, and burial will be in Washtenog Memorial Park.

Mrs. Benjamin Sexton Mrs. Fannie Sexton, wife of Benjamin Sexton, died Saturday at 10:35 a.m. at her home, 341 Oak Lane. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
