In boys soccer, seniors Jose Ampuero and Carlos Valentine were named to the all-league team while Juan Ampuero was given an honorable mention.

Etiwanda Pitcher Kristen Eiselein tossed her first no-hitter of the year as the softball team beat Canyon Springs in the first round of the San BernardinoRotary Tournament at Blair Park. The freshman right-hander struck out 10 and walked one in improving to 2-0. Carrie Zola-Wright, Jennifer Richardson and Shelby Main each had two hits for the Eagles, who play Hemet tonight in a quarterfinal contest. In girls soccer, seniors Melissa Bald-ing and Serena Ochoa were named to the all-league team and sophomore teammate Stephanie Phillips was given an honorable mention.

In girls basketball, senior center Zynythia Caviness was named to the all-league team while teammate Tausha Smith, a senior guard, was given an honorable mention. SanGorgonio Senior forward Robert Eg-land was named to the first team and guards Brian Dawson and Mike Willis and sophomore center Clifton Carter were named to the second team as the Citrus Belt League boys basketball coaches announced their selections last week. Serrano Ninette Reyna broke the school record in the discus with a throw of 98 feet to lead the girls track and field team to a victory over Mojave and Boron in a non-league tri-meet last Thursday at Serrano High School. Jessica Smith won the shotput with a 32-1 Apple Valley I Junior Lance Anderson was named the most valuable player of the San Andreas League and three teammates were also named to the all-league boys soccer team. Juniors Darren Fields, Kalph Rocca and Matt Hatley were also named to the all-league team.

Scott Newton was given an honorable mention. In girls soccer, junior Cindy Cross, senior Kristy Quimby, junior Tracy Walker, senior Kate Voungberg and senior Christine Norris were named to the all-league team while sophomore Stacey Johnson was given an honorable mention. Barstow Senior Monica Maldonado was named the San Andreas League's most valuable player and two teammates were placed on the all-league team also as the girls soccer coaches announced their selections. Juniors Melissa Santos and Christina Thompson were named to the all-league team and junior Virginia Grow earned an honorable mention.

In boys soccer, seniors Johnny Alonzo, William Shank and Kevin Marshall were named to the all-league team while Rick Robledo earned an honorable mention Junior Shanequa Norman was named to the all-league team and junior Jennifer Crawford earned an honorable mention as the girls basketball coaches announced their selections. Big Bear Senior guard Christy Heyer was named the De Anza League's most valuable player and junior Pam Peloza was named to the second team as the girls basketball coaches announced their all-league selections last week. Junior Heather Poole was given an honorable mention. Bloomington Eight returning starters accent the baseball team's roster, including senior shortstop-pitcher Sergio Rosales and junior right fielder Keith Gory. Also back are senior first baseman Sal Balde-ras: junior catcher Bobby Flores; senior infielder Mike Matava; junior left fielder Jaime Ramos; and senior center fielder Raul Sanchez.

The Bruins' top newcomer is Anaheim HS transfer Dave V'a-lenzuela, a junior third baseman. In last week's Duarte Tournament, the Bruins hit .337 as a team as they finished third in the eight- Hesperia looking for new coach By NICK LEYVA Sun Sports Writer Despite building Hesperia into a Division football power, coach Rocky Ford was fired and will not be back for the 1991 season. Interim principal Barry Bettger reportedly told Ford on Feb. 28 that he would not be retained as varsity football coach. Bettger did not return The Sun's phone calls Monday morning.

Messages left on Ford's answering machine were not returned. Running back Norman Clarke, a rusher this past fall, said Monday night he couldn't understand the firing. Colton Juniors Percy Ross and David Jones were named to the all-league team as the Mountain View League basketball coaches announced their selections. In girls basketball, junior guard Christan Haw kins and senior Jennifer Pedroza were named to the all-league team. IT iw -JS Hesperia Christian Senior third baseman Sally Ruisch, an All-Christian League selection as a junior, highlights the softball team's list of returning lettermen for first-year coach Jerry Barbour. Also back are senior center fielder Stacy Barbour: junior left fielder Laura Hailand; sophomore shortstop Tina Lewis; sophomore catcher Brandi Cot-tingim: and senior pitcher Bobbie Coon.

The Patriots' top newcomers are freshmen Christy Cuellar and Christy Hodson. Needles Eight of the 12 players ofT last year's Nevada 2A state championship team return for 1991, including pitchers Janet Sampson, who was South League MVP and state tourney MVP last year, and catcher Scotti Gleason, who was first team all-league and first team in the state tournament. Also back are outfielder Milaina Hernandez and first baseman Tina McAllister. The Mustangs' top newcomers are sophomore outfielder Bree Miles and freshman third baseman Carrie Breux. Ontario Cesar Barrera ripped a three-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to lift the baseball team to a 10-5 victory over Mont-clair in last Saturday's Upland Tournament championship game.

Catcher Mike Sweeney ripped a two-run single to break the 5-5 tie before Barrera's hit his second homer of the game. Redlands Senior guard Marcus Rogers was named the most valuable player and senior center Fritz Bomke and forward David Bru-bacher were named to the first team as the Citrus Belt League boys basketball coaches announced their picks last week. Named to the second team were senior forward Romaine Marshall, senior guards Kelly Hocks- playoffs. Corona won home-field advantage because it has played at home only twice in the 32-school tournament compared to Fontana's three. "We're not viewing this as a championship game." said Fontana coach Steve Hernandez.

"This is just another preseason game. It's our last tuneup before we go into league play." The Steelers open the Citrus Belt League season on Friday at Rubidoux. Bishop Amat was Fontana's most formidable competition of the year to date. Leadoff man Trent Christ led Beaumont with two singles and two walks in four plate appearances. Yucaipa has played its first six games without standout pitcher-first baseman Tyrone Hill, who is out with an ankle in Fohi nips Bishop Amat to make Chino finals By CHUCK HICKEY Sun Sports Writer FONTANA The Fontana High School baseball team advanced to the championship game of the Chino Tournament Monday with a 6-5 victory over Bishop Amat. Sophomore left fielder David Griffin went 4-for-4 with a double, stolen base and two RBI to lead the 15-hit attack.

Fontana improved to 5-1 and the Lancers from the Angelus League fell to 4-2. The Steelers will play Corona for the championship on Wednesday at Corona. The Panthers beat Nogales 9-5 in the other semifinal Monday. The tournament is played on teams' home fields, like the CIF met. "The kids really rose to the occasion." Hernandez said.

"We felt we'd play well. This is a good confidence-builder for us. They're the best team we've played all year and they were very disciplined and very well coached." Fontana was down 3-2 in the fifth inning when it went to work. Senior shortstop Armando Sanchez (3-for-4) doubled to left field to chase Amat starter George Garcia. Colton pulls out Chino consolation semifinal Redlands' Leon posts shutout in Upland Tournament opener The Sun Senior right-hander Gus Castro fired a complete-game seven-hitter to lead host Colton High School (4-2) to a 7-2 victory Monday over Don Lugo's baseball team in the consolation semifinals of the Chino Tournament. Castro, who improved to 3-0, gave up two earned runs, struck out two and walked four. Senior catcher Gilbert Campa led a 10-hit attack by going 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and an RBI. Junior third baseman Peter Ortiz went 2 for-3 and junior first baseman Randy Luera was2-for-4withanRBI.

SAN DIMAS 6, BEAUMONT 1: Matt Pohl's sacrifice fly in the seventh inning enabled Beaumont (3-2-1) to avoid being shut jury. Yucaipa faces San Gorgonio in the 1 1 th-place game Wednesday. Norco was led by Rick Walsh, who had a double and two-run triple. SAN BERNARDINO 2, HH WILSON 0: Pat Carpenter and Donovan Brooks combined on a three-hitter as San Bernardino downed Wilson in the Chino Tournament. San Bernardino will play Rubidoux for 13th place in the tournament on Wednesday.
