THE ADVERTISER CROSSWORD most wanted video around at the moment is without doubt and if you are one of the privileged few to have managed to hire a copy then you will see why In a word the film is quite brilliant with the photography stunning and the ever-improving Sylvester Stallone at his best yet both in the ring and out It becomes a bit fantastical in stages with some punches thrown that would have knocked any boxer into next week yet Rocky manages to stand and take 10 similar blows But that can easily be ignored Stallone who wrote and directed the film continues to story of the likeable no-hoper Rocky Balboa now at the age of 34 and still world champion China White warm up 9 LOCAL band will be appearing at the Radio Clyde Free Festival in Kelvingrove Park later this month chal- lenge from the ape-like and ferocious Clubber Lang (Mr T) much against the advice of his long-suffering manager Mickey (Burgess Meredith) But just as Rocky is set to step into the ring with the bombastic Lang Mickey collapses and not surprisingly mind is anywhere but on the fight and defeat is imminent With his title gone one-time rival Apollo Creed appears to tempt Rocky into one more fight against Clubber Lang so the stage is set for a violent and brutal battle Can Rocky win or is this the end? The first two Rocky films were superb This one surpasses both Also out this week is another film in which greed gets the better of people directed by and starring Charlton Heston is one of the most exciting around at present Set in the great Cassair Mountains a secret cavern silent and deep below the surface is supposed to contain walls layered with pure untouched gold the Mother Lode The fortune is too much of a temptation for five people but the price they pay for the dreamt wealth turns to the most horrific scenes one could imagine No shortage of action with Heston quite superb Still proving popular among the Monklands public is which stars Kirk Douglas Simon Ward Vir-ginia McKenna and Anthony Quayle When industrial magnate Robert Caine starts clearing the eerie desert site for a new thermonuclear power plant a series of tragedies leads him to feel he has disturbed some awesome force Video cassettes supplied courtesy of John Street Video Centre St John Street Coatbridge tain Jerry Jackson whose partner she becomes By night they rob and kill but by day Lady Skelton acts as lady of the manor Wicked carries an 18 Certificate DIFFERENT Also showing in Glasgow is a refreshingly different comedy about the effects on a Scottish coastal village when a giant Amer- ACROSS 1 A Wigan G-string covers groups of workers!
