"I think it's important for people to know they can be as damaged as I was and still be OK," says the actress who lost her spleen and most of her lung capacity to Hodgkin's disease five years ago.

"On the other hand, there is a frightening complacency in this country about cancer. People might see a story about me and it could add to that sense that everything's OK, that we're winning the war against cancer but we're not." Right now, the daughter of the late Rick Nelson is before the cameras co-starring with husband William Moses in NBC's May 5 "Perry Mason: The Case of the Libeled Lady" while doing her bit to promote CBS' March 29 "Highway Heartbreaker" movie. Once her work is finished, she says, she's looking forward to settling into "just being like any other pregnant woman." She reports that she and Moses, "Really didn't expect this. We tried diligently for a couple of years My hormones were very confused because of all the chemotherapy I had." She notes, "When you're concerned with staying alive, it's a dream to think of getting through it. And then to go on to have a baby, it's well, birth is always a miracle." TENSION TIME: The "Knots Landing" troupe is waiting for word about the fate of the CBS series and has been told they'll get it from the network by the end of the week.

You might recall producer its debut two seasons ago. Producer Barney Rosen-zweig, who also made "Cag-ney Lacey," has mailed 5,000 letters to loyal fans, advising them of his show's return. Six original episodes have yet to be seen, three of them featuring Robert Wagner as Gless' love interest. Rosenzweig's efforts to save "Rosie" included spending $50,000 late last year for full-page ads in USA Today and the New York Times. Similar attempts to revive "Cagney Lacey," also starring Gless, brought that show back for four seasons after CBS canceled it in 1983.

RODENTS AWAY: "Capitol Critters," ABC's low-rated cartoon about rodents in the White House, is taking a breather, making way for "Who's the which moves this week to Saturdays at 8 p.m. "Billy," a comedy starring Billy Connolly, replaces "Boss" at 8:30. ABC says future episodes of "Critters" will be announced at a later date. NO ESCAPING TAX MAN: Burt Reynolds is five months late paying $138.64 in tax and penalties he owes on a tiny lot near Evening Shade, the town for which his CBS series is named. A spokesman for Reynolds said the tax bill was probably an oversight.

"We'll get it sooner or later," laughs Marion County tax collector Janie Sanders. "I don't think we'll have any trouble." WAS HE Someone at the Museum of Television Radio's recent tribute to "Beverly Hills, 90210" asked actor Luke Perry what he thought of fame. "The series, or the movie?" Perry said. From Sun News Services Tracy Nelson Ecstatic about baby out of production in November for a lengthy overhaul after ratings on the 13-year-old soap took a nosedive. Quality of the show has improved since its return, but its future is still iffy.

POSITIVE RESULTS: ABC's Feb. 24 movie, "Crash Landing: The Rescue of Flight 232," not only was the network's highest-rated movie in two years, but it's also gotten fire departments, hospitals and airports interested in emergency planning. Disaster officials in Sioux City, Iowa, where the crash occurred and "Flight" was filmed, report many calls. ROSIE'SBACK: "The Trials of Rosie O'Neill" will get a new lease on TV life when it returns to prime time on April 11 at 10 p.m., CBS announced. The troubled series, starring Sharon Gless as a sometimes abrasive public defender, had its last airing Dec.
