Saturday, June 20, 1959 Mitchell Woman Gives Mission Society Report Mrs. Wilford Johnson, delegate to the annual conference of the Women's Missionary Society of the Wesleyan Methodist Church, gave devotions and a report of the conference at a meeting of the organization in the home of Mrs. Ed Strand Thursday. She reported that a $40 pledge had been made for the local society at a public missionary meeting where $1580 was received.

The meeting was opened in prayer Mrs. Harold Austin and closed by Mrs. William Smith. Plans to serve at the Father-Son banquet to be held in the church hall the evening of June 20 were made at the business meeting which was in charge of Mrs. L.

L. Smith Hilde- and brand. Guests were Mrs. Renee of Brookings. Burkholders Honored On 25th Wedding Date Mr.

and Mrs. Elner were honored at a surprise party at their lake home the evening of June 16 on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary. Gifts of silver were presented the couple. Guests were Mr. and Mrs.

Walt Miller. Walker Family Has Reunion At Hitchcock Park By Republic News Service ARTESIAN A Walker family reunion was held June 14 at cock Park in Mitchell. Marvin Scott. Mrs. Ben Cope and Mrs. Albert Rapp won prizes at bridge. A dessert luncheon preceded the play.

Stork Shower A stork shower honoring Mrs. Wallace Weiss was held June 12 at the home of Mrs. Lester Sterret of Fedora. A group of ladles from Artesian attended. Refreshments were served.

Bridge Club The Contract Bridge Club met June 8 at the home of Mrs. Albert Peterson. Mrs. Roy Knust and Mrs. Tom Burns.

A 7:30 dessert luncheon preceded the play. Marks Anniversary Diana Rebekah Lodge 113 celebrated its 50th anniversary the evening of June 8 with Friendship Night. The lodge WAS instituted March 4, 1904 with five charter members, Mr. and Mrs. W.

F. Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. V. E.

West and Lillian Loring. A program was presented with Terri Sue Brown tap dancing, songs by Doris Shoemaker and Bette Goudy, accompanied by Mrs. Edwin Brown. Mrs, Gertrude Shoemaker gave a reading and also read the history of the lodge. Mrs.

Clyde Scott gave a reading. A memorial service was held. Games were played and lunch was served. Members from Fulton, Letcher, Carthage, Fedora and Roswell lodges were represented. Mrs.

Wilbur Forst, a member of Diana Lodge from Aurora, was also present. New Member Joins Club At Woonsocket By Republic News Service WOONSOCKET-Mrs. Eldon Senska was hostess to the Modernaires Home Extension Club at her home the evening of June 11. Mrs. John Brown was assistant hostess.

For the year the Rev. Ellitsgaard has been student in Union Theological Seminary and at Columbia University, where his class Included ministers representing 16 nations. He himself speaks five languages. The Rev. E. Kaempschen officiated at the douring ceremony, Music for the nuptials was provided by Miss Kinzle of Southern State Teachers College at the organ and Warren Erickson, also of Southern, as soloist. The bride was attended by Mrs. Calvin Neumeister as matron of honor and Miss Arlene Littau as bridesmaid.

Marion Sayler was flower girl and Leslie Hamberger the ringbearer. The bridegroom's best man was LeRoy Sayler and Clifford Kaul was an attendant. The bride has worked in the office of the financial secretary at Southern State Teachers College for four years. The bridegroom is a graduate of Southern State Teachers College and has a master's degree in education from the University of South Dakota. He has been teaching in Sioux Falls for the past five years. The coming school term he will teach at Patrick Henry Junior High School in Sioux Falls, The couple will reside in Sioux Fals at 1000 Dale Drive. Freeman Couple Speaks Vows In Hutterthal Mennonite Church MR.

et 40 in conjunction chairmen in cherge of Falls, Department Miss Bertha Beler, planning stage. by Steve Solum) Scotland VFW Auxiliary Honors Charter Member By Republic News Service SCOTLAND Mrs. Floyd Wheeler, who is leaving Scotland this month to make her new home in Arizona, was honored this week where she was presented with a gift and a 25 year pin from the auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mrs. Wheeler was a charter member of the first auxiliary organized here and after it disbanded she joined the Yankton unit.

However when the auxiliary was re organized here in 1946 she transferred her membership to the Scotland post. She has held many offices in the unit here. She also has held state offices, having been department senlor or vice in 1937 and was department president in 1938 after the resignation of the president. Lodge Elects The Women of the Moose met the evening of June 10 and elected officers. They are Mrs.

Arthur Suess, was selected as delegate to area conference. She shares the honor with a delegate from Monroe. They were selected from 225 young people.
