The Fourth of Ihe Deep Run Hunt Club's Series. Another of the series of jumping con? tests will be held this afternoon at 4:30 o'clock on llie of the Deep Run Hunt Club. This event promises to be more interesting than any that have been heretofore held, as there will be a. number of horses entered that have not heretofore competed. Ever since, the competitions were start? ed there has been a.

marked improvement in the. performances of the hunters of tho club and it has become a matter of course to see as many as twenty to thirtv horses being schooled over the Club House Jumps every good afternoon. it is a. matter of regret that this school? ing has lost for Mr. Spencer Carter his good hunter, Mulvaney, who was acci? dentally killed about two weeks ago in falling over a very high obstacle.

Miss Claudia Palmer's chestnut hunter, "Jim," has been in the hands of Mr. Beat tie for some time past, and there is no doubt but that he will make an excellent performance over the jumps to-morrow afternoon. Mr. Carter has been schooling Mrs. Car? ter's "Squedunk" for the past two weeks, regularly, and the horse shows marked improvement.

There is no doubt but that society will turn out in full force, as these gatherings at the club arc most enjoyable. Crescent City Races. (By NEW ORLEANS. March Trebor. Andes and Sim W.

CSpeclal Dispatch io Tbc NORFOLK, March sub-committee who shall meet Presi? dent of the Seaboard Air Lino to-morrow at Richmond, to protest against the removal of the system's gen? eral offices from Portsmouth to Rich? mond, received their final instructions from, the general' at a meet? ing? here this afternoon. They are Instructed to present a digni? fied protest: to let nu question verac? ity between President Williams and a representative in the Legislature from Portsmouth, between whom such 'ques? tion has been raised, in print; and to not allow any question of boycotting to be -raised. 1 Ion.

Rarton Myers will be spokesman for the committee, of which Mr. C. S. Portsmouth, is chairman. Captain John XV.

Hopper, of Ports? mouth, and S. Southgate will bo with Barton Myers as spokes? men. It was stated to-day that the freight shipped by Mr. F. S.

Royster, who was prevented by a previous engage? ment from being a member of the pro? testing committee of the Seaboard, swells the system's receipts about five hundred thousand dollars annually. The committee will go over the Norfolk and Western Railway, and will meet President Williams at 12:30 o'clock to-mor? row afternoon. Excellent, cool and conservative? busi? ness men constitute the committee. Throughout city the sentiment is expressed that the agitation the pro? posed removal is nonsensical, and will result, in nothing, and President Williams is held to have a perfect right to remove, shops if for business reasons this seems best. PLANS FOR ENTERTAINMENT.

The Delegates to the National Convention to Be Weil Received. The Executive Committee of the Trav? elers' Protective Association is busy ar? ranging plans for tho entertainment of the National T. P. A. Convention, which will be held in this city in June next.

All indications point to the largest crowd at any convention ever held by the Asso? ciation. Already the committee has re? ceived requests for the reservation of fif? ty rooms. The committee is now arrang? ing for a special train by which visitors can be taken around the city and shown the river improvements and manufactur? ing industries on the other side, includ? ing the Locomotive. Works and Chesa? peake and Ohio shops. The Trigg Com? pany will, if possible, have one of the boats now building at the yards launched during the week of the convention.

If a boat is launched it will probably be one of the revenue cutters, the Mackinaw. One of the important features of the week's entertainment will be the trip down the James to Old Point. Several of the Eastern delegations are now trying to arrange excursion parties, which will bring large crowds from the New England and Middle Atlantic States, other than the regular delegates.
