Wants $3279 of Relief Fund Money for Loss of Tools and Engine LARGE RENT BILL' "With a letter marked "confidential." Martin Kelly has filed a claim against the relief fund for 13279. Kelly alleges that he has, in his efforts to relieve own distress caused by the flre. the'distress of his son and daughters and the further distress of some sixty ot his friends, sustained substantial damage to the amount claimed. Kelly alleges that before the fire his place of business, as well as his realdencer was at 313 Fremont street. He was burned out and obliged to taka some old barns of whleh he is possessed on Silver 1 avenue, near the Five-Mile House oh "the Mission road.

The petitioner thus describes the barns: "Said barns having been used by me, for over, twenty years as storehouse and workshop." According to Kelly's petition, so many persons applied at the barns for shelter that the machinery had to moved Into the yard. This, he says, was exposed to the weather until most of it Is unfit for use. Kelly concludes with a statement that he has suffered much and needs money. He says: "I therefore ask your' honorable committee to reimburse me for the loss I have sustained through helping other sufferers In this emergency and trust that you will also'conslder that I and my family and every married son and daughter of mine and their families were burned out and lost everything they owned." The itemized statement of the alleged losses is as follows: "Large quantities of wooden patterns of machinery, engines and other cast- Ings, $2000; 5000 feet of lumber, $115; 15 bundles of shingles, 6 -gas ranges. $120; 1 50-horsepower engine, damaged by rain and fogs and rust, will cost to put in order.

damaged to the extent of about $25: 600 pipe fittings, $150: 2000 feet wrought Iron. $200; 7 circular gas heaters. rent for four months, $400." The rent charged for the use of barns for four months Is $100 a' month. Accompanying the petition Is a letter In which Kelly states that he has been very "liberal and lenient In his demands." Mr. Fhelan's department, to which the communications were addressed, has turned them over to tho regular claims department.

It is not likely that Kelly. will receive favorable consideration on his claim, as the time limit for filing claims has- long since expired. TO WILLIAM COHWAT'S Aug. 30. Local patriotic societies and tne people of Camden today nnlted in honoring the memory.
