HiG DREDGER upon Starts Digging Drainage Canal North Between the Railroad and Eiver. Mesqulte. X. Aug. 29.

The big dredging machine which was unloaded here recently has commenced work at a point Just west of Mesqulte station and wiU dig the drainage canal north between the railroad track and the river. This means a wonderful thing for the country and will drain the lake and seep boles which have been here for several years and were proving so detrimental to the soil. Work is being rushed on construction of the reclamation camp and the buildings will soon be ready for occupancy. Quantities of lumber continue to arrive. T.

Crabtree is leaving this week for Louisiana with a carload of fine horses and mules to deliver to southern stock dealers. Recent rains have proved all that was hoped for and the surrounding ranges are covered witn a carpet oi green. Already the cattle are In better condition as a result of a sufficient supply of food and water. Shipments of hay have been heavy from this point and the last of the third cutting is moving out now. Most of this alfalfa is going to San Antonio.
