Shaft and Fountain Erected to Memory of Delaweiler Harrisburg Pa Oct 15A marble shaft and fountain erected by the Order of Elks throughout the United States in memory of Meade Dela weiler of Harrisburg was unveiled here today the anniversary of Mr Delaweilers birth The principal address was delivered by Judge Jerome Fisher of Jamestown whose subject was An estimate of Dela weiler the man and the Elk The statue was unveiled by Mr Delaweilers two little sons after which it was turned over to Mayor Gross and by him to the park commission The memorial consiss of an elaborate marble structure inlront which is a life size bronze elk Both front and rear are marble seats and in front isa lifesize bust of Mr Dela weiler On the sides are ornamental drinking fountains and from the center a large marble shaft thirtyfive feet high is capped by a massive marble ball There are also two large bronze urns on each side of the shaft Mr Delaweiler was one of the leading men of the order the life saving station to be erected by the service to replace the old one Superintendent Hutchins recently advised the department at Washington that it was inadvisable to have the station located in the former place owing to the fact that large I portions of the island had been carried away at that point and recommending I a site about a mile to the westward The department has now authorized the superintendent and captain to select the site which will be done at once in order that work upon the new building can commence Supt Hutchins was also notified yesterday of the fact that wagons for tho the period of more than i ten 10 years that after the said William Fisher acquired the said property as aforesaid from the said I Jesse Tally he kept up the said enclosure and the building constituting ir the said residence until he conveyed the same as aforesaid in the month 1 of March 1905 to the said Herman Krone and the said Herman Krone after he acquired the said property I kept up
