in the championship bracket The tournament tapers off with one-o-day games on Wednesday and Thursday each at 8 pm with the loser eliminated Wednesday and the championship (if one team remains unbeaten) decided Thursday If both teams have one loss after Thursday's game the extra game is scheduled for 8 pm Friday The champion here advances to the Pacific Southwest Region tournament scheduled for Aug 9-13 in Madera That winner goes to the Babe Ruth World Series in Newark Ohio Aug 19-28 Actually the "marathon" could last through Aug 28 IF either San Luis Obispo or Arroyo Grande should go all the way ByJohuyNrttlnhip Sports Editor Another one of those marathon runs gets under way In San I uis Obispo at 10 am Friday The could last through July 28 and probably will This "marathon" is not of the huff lng puffing jogging type but one where one division of those people involved work throughout the day and most of the night another division plays baseball and still another division watches the games It's called the Central California State Babe Ruth lieague 14-15-year-old double-elimination tournament The "division" that works throughout the week-long tournament is called the Babe Ruth lieague tournament committee It has Eric Burdict as tourney director and Steve Gale as tourney chairman The buck stops with Burdict and or Gale but the presentation of Babe Ruth tournaments in San liUis Obispo has been so well organized in past years under Harry Henderson and Bob Janssen that Bur group expects absolutely no problems with this 14-15 state meet the first-ever for SI) Well almost no problems The "division" that plays throughout the tourney is of course made up of the teams coaches managers and batboys This group Includes the seven districts of Central California plus on Lodi at 4 pm for two other Saturday games before the workers return with opening ceremonies at 7 pm Carol Hallett state assemblywoman was pressed into service to throw in the "first ball" while Henderson who is in charge of opening ceremonies will handle the catching chore A feature of the opening ceremonies will be the introduction of the players the district directors and Marion Elliott
