AND JACKSON RECEPTION The annual reception held Friday night at the residence of Mr and Mrs Bawner by Pensacola Chapter Daughters of the Confederacy to celebrate the birthdays of both Lee and Jackson was a great success attended by the largest number of people who have ever been present at similar functions Among the guests were a number of visiting Veterans from out of town and there was a general attendance of the local Veterans and members oft the Memorial Association 3 The entire lower floor was thrown A open maklng practically one ample room all bright and cherry with flags ii beautifully arranged On the polished surface of the table in the dining room white carnations and ferns and red candles with red shades completed the color scheme and added to the pleasure of a charming service of I Chocolate and wafers Mr and Mrs Brawner were the I most delightful and hospitable of genera hosts making every guest as welcome as though specially invited to 1 their beautiful home 4 Mrs A McDavid and Mrs Batts welcomed the arrivals In the reception hall while Miss Wittich and Mrs Bonacker presided In the re freshment room where Miss Irma and I Miss Vera McDavid Miss Lurline and Miss Vera iFulghum served 44 Miss Leila Reese president of Pen 1 sacola chanter gracefully nresentpr1 crosses of honor to two veterans Mr Jennings and Mr Brewton and the other Daughters in a committee of the whole chapter each did 11 her part in making this one or the most delightfully informal and pleasant events in their history I The whole program was enjoyable Mrs Brawner and Mrs Pebley sang Bonnie Blue Flag so beautifully 44 i asa duett in the early part of the program that they had to repeat It later In the evening by unanimous demand As an encore for her violin solo Miss Vera Fulghum played Dixie 4 which brought out the old Rebel yell lit and an enthusiastic recall The male quartette Mr Gar field Mr Walker Anderson Mr Bushnell and Mr Walker 1 who sang The Soldiers Farewell when encored chased away the sympathetic tears they had evoked by i merrily singing Where are you go ii ing my pretty maid to which there 4 iI was a delightful recall The address of General George ft Reese which is printed elsewhere In this Issue of The Journal Is a stenographic report taken by Miss Vera rI McDavid for The Journal and its com 1 pleteness and accuracy reflect great credit altar the grouping the entire party made a beautiful picture The bride was equisitely gowned in white casmere and silk and the ceremony was performed by Rev Tate They received many beautiful and useful presents Mr and Mrs Creighton parents of the groom entertained at dinner tile following day In honor of the bride and groom Their many friends wish them a long and happy married life A LOTTO PARTY Mrs Vidal entertained Thursday evening with a lotto party in honor of her mother Mrs Roth of Chicago Mrs Levy of Mobile and Miss Matilda Frolichstein of Mobile Twentyseven guests played and Miss Jennie Levy won the first prize a stein which she gracefully turned over to Mrs Levy the senior honoree The guest prize was won by Miss Percival of Baltimore while the guest booby a penwiper with a miniature telephone on it went to Mrs Levy the consolation a pair of battenberg shams going to Miss Matilda Frollchstein At 1030 the dining VI thrown open and the decorations of red and white proved attractive from every point of view Red shaded candles and white carnations in shower effect decorated the table and a delicious supper of salads sandwiches cakes ices and bonbons was served as a closing feature of an enjoyable evening MISS MAMIES BIRTHDAY Miss Mamie Oerting entertained a score or more of her little friends Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 to celebrate her tenth birthday The home of her parents Mr and Mrs McKenzie Oerting 609 North Davis was beautifully decorated throughout the first floor in compliment to the little hostess the color scheme of white cut flowers and green vines and growing plants prevailing tastefully Mrs McK Oerting hospitably Joked after the pleasure and welfare of Miss Mamie and her guests and was charmingly assisted in servlne by Miss Ruby arid Miss Anna Oerting and their cousin Miss Bessie DAlem berte All sorts of games wereenjoyed as was the beautifully served luncheon of sandwiches hot chocolate cakes fruits and candies The chief feature of the table decorations was the beautifully iced birthday cake ornamented with white lilies and green foliage and which when cut proved to be a dellci9us white cake fitting food for angels and fair
