The former curator was among those who appreciated Ryder's qualifications for the position and expected that the Berkeley instructor might succeed him. The assistant position of curator of the natural science division is also to be conferred, and Paul Fair, a Stanford graduate of recent years, has been suggested by Harshe and others for the position.
