Salt Lake 322-1581 Ogden 773-1640 Layfon-Kaysville-Farmington 867-2247 Brigham 723-8553 Logan 753-0060 Provo 374-1731 or 4 "M-i GATHERING KYNOES a combination kayak and canoe in preparation for running the Snake River in Wyoming are Venture Post 175 members Mark Martin and Kim Bott (left to right) Ogden Scouts to Battle River Rapids in Home-Made 'Kynoes kynoes each weighing between 95 and 105 pounds and taking 50 man hours to build The teens By DAVID CROFT Early Wednesday morning nine teen-age Venture Scouts from Post 175 will hit the road heading north Traveling into Wyoming they will stop briefly at Boy Scout Camp Loll to pick up their post president all the while tailed by eight mounted on trailers The kynoes are a combination kayak and canoe and along with the Ventures their post advisor and a few fathers will be dumped in the Snake River in northwestern Wyoming for a river trip through Grand Teton National Park Though dumped in the river the kynoes will float They are built of fiberglass have extra flotation support and are designed to carry three men plus their equipment 10 members of Post 175 and will carry the teens adults and gear for some 100 miles along the Snake River and Jackson Lake ending at Moose Wyo on Aug 14 Last November Dean Grisel of 3616 Iowa became adult advisor to Post 175 Post members ages 15 and 16 sought an idea for a scouting jargon for a special long-term project According to post vice president Mark Martin son of Mi- and Mrs Paul A Martin of 1311 Kingston Drive the post decided on a river trip and initially planned to use canoes Then they made contact with Ray Wayman of Kaysville advisor to an explorer post there which has made kynoe a post project for some time With help from the Kaysville group Post 175 built the eight PANTYHOSE IN PROPORTION TO YOU! spent Tuesdays Fridays and Saturdays working on the boats To finance the project the post sold a commercial raising $400 in the first three and operated a newspaper route Other money raising projects included doing yard work and cement pouring projects Mr Grisel noted the support of the Ogden 50th LDS Ward the post sponsor In turn the teens praised Mr Grisel for the extra time and work he had given to the post Coordination of the project involved meetings each Sunday afternoon and Tuesday evening One youth noted the post was nearly inactive before last November More than $1000 was raised to fund the superactivity Construction on the boats began in January with recent testing conducted in Causey Reservoir and Willard Bay The journey down the Snake will begin at Flagg Ranch in Wyoming some 20 miles above the borders of the national park A label you'll recognize savings galore and outstanding pantyhose!
