B2 THE CHILLIWACK PROGRESS, Wednesday, May 4, 1988 M J , Janet Cousins defeated Grace Malpass in a playoff for the monthly medal as the Chilliwack Golf and Country Club women's section held its playday April 26. Cousins and Malpass needed the playoff after tying for monthly honors the previous week. In regular club competition, a 15-hole tournament was played (after playing a regulation 18-hole round the highest three holes and handicap were deducted). In first division play, Marie Brier took the day's honors shooting a net 55. A trio of golfers were tied at net 56, Pat Battistoni, Marion Rowlands and Grace Malpass. In second division action, Thora Zerowel topped all with a net 50. Tied at net 53 were Fern Minion, Dorothy Marshall, Dorothy Kay and Louise Boisvert. Third division honors went to Janice Cousins with a net 49. Mary Duchak and Joan McMynn were tied at 51. Slopitch tournament Rosedale dominates again Rosedale Chevron scored a 9-5 victory over Wooden Shoe Coors in the final game of the second annual Rosedale Canoe Race Slo-pitch Tournament to take the title for the second straight year. The one-day tournament was played Sunday at Rosedale Ball Park with eight teams participating. Chevron went through undefeated with victories over the Wooden Shoe Canadians and the Royal Canadian Legion to make it to the championship game. Coors' wins came over Color Your World and Gordania Estates, advancing them to the A side final. Gordania and the Legion were both opening game victors, losing out in the semi-final round. After losing its opening game the Canadians bounced back with two straight wins to capture the consolation crown. The Canadians defeated Chilliwack Motor Inn in the 8 side final after downing Eyemagic Glass and Gifts in its second game. Motor Inn advanced to the B final with a victory over Color Your World after losing its opening game.
