License 59 City Adopts A 1950-51 Budget Adoption of the 1950-51 budget by the City of Algona was handled at a recent meeting of the city council, and a summary of the proposed expenditures, with estimated receipts, is carried in today's Algona upper Des Moines. The city's fiscal year runs from April 1, 1950, to April 1. 1951. Estimated expeditures for the city, exclusive of the electric fund and water fund (light plant and water works), total $137,520. It should be added that not all of this total will be raised by direct taxation, however, as there are carryover funds and refunds from various sources that enter the picture. Cost of operating the police department is estimated at $17,900, of the street department at $34,500. sewer maintenance cost it figured at $15,000, and so on. Jerry Schutter Rites Monday L«kt)ta —r Mr. and Mrs. Jerri I Heetland, Mrs. John Heetland ' Mrs. Rojaald Heetland, and Miss Hannah Heetland drove to West Bend, Thursday. They received a message last week Tuesday saying Jerry Schutter of West Bend had passed away that afternoon at Pfaoeujx, Ari?., where he and his wife had gone Feb. 1, seeking relief from arthritis from which he had suffered for a long time. Mr. Schutter owned and managed a funeral home for over 30 years in West Bend, but sold bis business just before he went to Arizona. He also owned a produce station which is managed by his son-in-law, Clifford Munson, at West Bend. He is survived by his widow, the former Minnie Heetland, sis- ier of Jerry, John and George Heetland, two sons, Dr. John Schutter of Algona and David in Texas, and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Pommer of Algona. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church in West Bend, Monday, April 10. New pens were presented to Mary Coady, Fern Habeger, Duane Habeger and Yvonne Ditsworth for having blue ribbon record books. Edward Tigges was elected assistant to the club's representative, Duane Habeger, in the plowing match to be held April 22. The club also voted to send $5 to the state camp fund. John Burton and James Cuady, Jr., gave a demonstration. Games were played and a lunch enjoyed after the meeting. Senecans Again Grandparents Word from Louisburg, Mo., announces the birth of a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Shejdon Merrill, Jr., on April 3. The daughter has been named Kathy Jo, and she is the second child of the Merrills Her mother is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Bailey of the Seneca store, and prior to moving to a farm near Louisburg in March, the Merrills farmed near Seneca the past several years.
