Cont. from sewer main contracts costing $535,688. The cost will be paid half by the citv and half by HUD. One line will extend on Lynn Street north to Cemetery, and west to HWY 61 North. The second will run from the sewage treatment plant to HWY 61 South, and west to Frisco Railroad.

A third will extend east from the sewage treatment plant to Marian street extended and north to Abies Road Another sewer main project is contracted for $17,188, again handled by the city and HUD. The contract involves installing sewer mains along Salcedo Road to the north city limits; and along Clayton Avenue to the west city limits. The flat land of Sikeston will require construction of three booster pumping stations to begin in September. One station, already complete, lifts sewage to a higher level and uses gravity force to pull sewage down hill to the treatment plant, Beemer explained. Above and under ground, Sikeston is building facilities to service the sewer needs few about 15 years.

If industries locate there, new residents will require more construction, Inman said. Further industrialization of Sikeston would make all of the present water and sewer construction obsolete long before 1985, but Inman is not worried. City Light and Water Company would like to do more construction if it meant that industry were locating Inman said. Dexter Woman Links Lawyer BLOOMFIELD, Mo.
