Cullen, Rockford An orchid in a setting of white gladioli fashioned into a colonial bouquet was carried by the bride, Ruth Margaret Boesiger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Boe- fiiger, "19 20th avenue, as she met her groom, Benjamin C.

Cullen, son of Mr. and Mrs. George P. Cullen, 765 N. Madison street, Rockford, in a nuptial ceremony in St.

Victor's rectory today at high noon. Rev. E. C. McCollow was official clergyman at the double-ring services.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white satin £own having a sweetheart neckline with seed pearl trim and long train. A three-quarters length veil completed the ensemble. Miss Helen Brawand of Rockford, the bride's only attendant, donned an aqua moire gown and carried yellow gladioli. The groom's brother, George Cullen, Rockford, served as best man. Music was provided by Mr.

and Mrs. Edwin Schuetze. Immediate families of the couple attended the wedding dinner at the home of Mrs. Elsie Gerber at 12:30. Friends and relatives from Chicago, Milwaukee, Rockford, Beloit, Rock Island, Madison and this vicinity were received at the bride's home at 719 20th avenue.

Mrs. Robert Kingdon, who did the decorating for the nuptial af- iair, cut the cake. Miss Dorothy Brawand of Rockford and Mrs. B. L.

Grunwald, Van Wert poured. Assisting with the serving were Mrs. William S. Preston and Miss Joyce Stauffacher. Following the reception the con- pie left for northern Wisconsin and Minnesota on their honey- xaoon.

On their return they plan to reside at 213 South Fifth street in Rockford. Mrs. Cullen is a graduate of Monroe high school and the Rock- lord school of business. She is secretary at the George D. Roper corporation in Rockford.

The groom is a graduate of St. Thomas high school and is employed at Wales-Beech corporation in Rodcford. CALVEKT-OLSON i- cago and Niagara Falls are on the honeymoon itinerary of Mr. and Mrs. Harlan M.

Olson, whose marriage this afternoon at 1:30 was solemnized by Rev. E. M. Jeffrey at the Methodist church. Sirs.

Olson is the former Pauline Elizabeth Calvert, daughter of Mrs. Walter J. Calvert and the late Walter J. Calvert. The groom is the son of Mr.

and Mrs. Oliver M. Olson. Miss Emma Ischi was maid of honor at the double-ring services, while Harry Everson Gratiot, served as best man. Flower girls, Misses Connie Calvert and Donna Olson, were accompanied down the aisle by ring bearers, Jerry -Calvert and Gary Olson.

Ushers were Ordean Olson of Gratiot and Kenneth Salmon of Mineral Point. The service, at which Miss Phyllis Owens, cousin of the bride, rendered "I Love You Truly" and Perfect "Love," was "followed by a reception in the church parlors. Assistants in hostessing were Mrs. Vivian Quinn, Mrs. George Steil, Mrs.

TjiHan Cassidy and Mrs. Arlene Barber. The couple plan to make their home in Darlington where Mr. Olson is employed. HELMAN-JOHNSON Orangeville (Times Special Mary Lu Helman, daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Clinton Helman, Rockford, and Burdette Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnson, Holcomb, 111., united in marriage in a ceremony read at 8 last evening in the First Baptist church in Rockford. Rev.

B. E. Allen officiated. Attending her sister as maid of honor was Miss Esther Helman and bridesmaids were Misses Jovce Aiekens of Forreston and Anita Hayunga of German Val- lev. Marvin Johnson served as best man and Richard Peterson and Melvin Swanson ushered.

A reception was held in the church parlors immediately following the ceremony. After a short wedding trip the couple will live in Rockford. Mrs. Johnson is a West high school graduate and attended Wheaton college. She taught in the Orangeville grade school the past vear and is now a receptionist for Dr.

Maurice Rogers. Burdette, a veteran of overseas army service, is a Stillman Valley "high school graduate and is emploved by the mechanics universal" joint division of the Borg- Warner corporation in Rockford. SAMUEL HUMBEL Samuel umbel Wed In Oregon Ceremony White and yellow chrysanthemums decorated the altar of Holy Mother of Consolation church in Oregon this morning for the marriage of Miss Shan Marie Collins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl J.

Collins, Oregon, and Samuel F. Humbel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Humbel Monroe. The double ring ceremony was performed at a 9 o'clock mass by Rev.

Sylvester Van Berkel. The bride, given in marriage by her father, appeared in a gown of white slipper satin, designed with a fitted bodice and full skirt which fell into a long train. A satin crown held her 'finger-tip length veil. She wore a strand of pearls and carried a bouquet of white roses and white mums. Preceding the bride down the church aisle were her sisters, Misses Patricia Ann and Mary Ellen, as bridesmaids and Miss Lois Ann Pease, Madison, as maid of honor.

They all wore identical gowns of green nylon marquisette over, taffeta, styled similar to the bride's. Long gloves covered their arms and they carried bouquets of salmon gladioli and baby's breath. They wore wreaths of matching flowers in their hair. As flower girl, little Sharon Nee, daughter of the Thomas Nees of Madison, wore a white satin gown fashioned like the bride's. The groom was attended by his brother, Paul Humbel of West Bend, a former Monroe resident.

Ushers were Oerald and Emmett Collins, Richland Center, cousins of the bride. A wedding breakfast -was served the bridal party and 75 guests at Community building in Oregon and in the afternoon a reception for 250 guests was held there. Assisting at the reception were Misses Patricia Lapply and Patricia Jens of Oregon. Many guests from Madison and Monroe were present at the wedding. Out-of-town guests from more distant points were Mr.

Store FHA Loans for Home Repairing St. John's Installs New Music Director Miss Florence Voigt Assumes. Post Here The new director of music and religious education at St. John's Evangelical church, Miss Florence i Ft. Madison, has arrived in Monroe to assume her duties.

She will be installed at a special morning service at 10:45 Sunday. Rev. Charles Schwantes, director of student work, Philadelphia, will preach the sermon. Miss Voigt, in her new capacity, will act as organist, direct church choirs, supervise the program of religious education in the Sunday school, and have charge of youth activities. A June graduate of Eden Theological seminary at Webster Groves, where she majored in religious education, Miss Voigt also attended Christian college, Columbia, where she received her musical training.

She has had experience during the last few years as a voice teacher, church organist, choir director, soloist and accompanist. Miss Voigt was consecrated as a commissioned worker of the Evangelical and Reformed church in a special service in her home church at Ft. Madison last Sunday. Albany By Mrs. William Stelndorf Lloyd Scott, watchman at the Indiana Condensary, is having a two weeks vacation.

He went to Darlington Tuesday to visit his sisters, Mrs. F. E. West and Mrs. Mcllwain.

He will go to Chicago for the weekend with his son-in- law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sicotte. While there Mr. Scott will observe his 75th birthday, Sept.

6. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Steindorf, son Roger, returned Monday from a visit at Athens with the Alex Brehm family. Lee Gillette accompanied them and remained for a longer stay.

Frank Hilliard accompanied a carload of cattle to Harrisburg, returning Monday night. Juanita Rebekah lodge No. 145 will hold its first meeting following the summer recess Friday evening, Sept. 12, with a pot luck supper at 6:30. Mrs.

Clella Thornley is noble grand. Rally day will be observed at the First Baptist church, Sunday, Sept. 7, with new classes to be formed in the Bible school, with additional teachers. Special music by the choir will be given at the church service which will be at eleven a. m.

Bible school an hour earlier. In the evening the young adult group will have a wiener roast in the church yard followed by an hour of fellowship. Rev. Richard C. Werner is pastor.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Onsgard, Ft. Atkinson, visited Mr. and Mrs.

Clayton Wetmore Labor day. Mrs. Etta Stewart is ill at her home. Mr. and Mrs.

Albert Loeffel returned from a week's vacation in Minnesota. They attended the Minnesota state fair, and visited relatives at St. Paul and Minneapolis. Mr. and Mrs.

Lloyd Edwards, Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey Edwards of Beloit, were Sunday guests at the Frank Steindorf home. Mr. and Mrs.

Dell Jones plan to leave this week on a month's trip to Seattle, where they will visit their son, Donald and family. They will also visit Mrs. Avah Lewis-Wood at Carleton, relatives at Des Moines, and in Kansas. C. H.

Fergueson, son, Sam, left on a two weeks vacation in northern Wisconsin. They will visit Dr. A. H. Hitchcock at Elcho, a former dentist here.

Richardson, 73, Methodist church leader in Wisconsin, died early yesterday at Method- ist hospital of virus pneumonia i and a stroke. Bishop Richardson was former Methodist bishop in the Atlanta, area and retired head of the eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Puerto Rico district.

John Malasch, California, are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marian Condon. Rails Flat Broke Knoxville (IP) American railroads are "flat broke" and face nationalization unless they are permitted to raise fares and freight rates, President E. E.

Norris of the Southern Railway said yesterday. During a stopover here, Norris commented in an interview that as a result of the newest wage increase to non-operating employes, "all railroads in the country are now flat broke." He said unless the interstate commerce commission and the 48 state utilities commissions "rush to their (railroads) rescue" with adequate increases in rates and fares, "the railroads are on the way out as 'exhibit A' of America's free enterprise system."
