Ground Breaking for New Church Planned on Sunday Tht Rev. Max Wyatt and wife return to Salem after three months of evangelistic meetings in India and a trip around the world. They have been absent from their church, Faith Gospel Tabernacle, for five months. They arrived in India on the first day of this Speaker Rev. Mil C.

Mark's Lutheran church at two worship services Sunday morning. The early service will be conducted at I a.m. at which time the pastor, the Rev. John L. Cauble, will deliver a brief meditation and the Holy Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be administered.

At the regular 11 a.m. service the Holy Communion will again be administered, and a meditation given by the pastor. The Sunday school will convene at the regular time, 9:30 a.m. with classes and instruction for all age groups. The pastor's information class will be held in the church at 4 p.m.

Junior high Luther league will meet at the church at 5 p.m. Senior high Luther league meets at the church at 6:30. A missionary rally will be held at the church at I p.m. The Rev. Joseph Dcibert, missionary form Argentina, will be the guest speaker.

He will speak of his work in that country and also of what the ULCA Lutheran church Is doing there and its future. Pastor Plans Series Start The Rev. Elmer Hiebert, pastor of Salem Heights Baptist church Sunday will begin a new series of messages on the book of II Corinthians. This will be an expositional type of Bible Message relating to Church relationships and Christian conduct. In the evening the pastor's message will be one of the last in a aeries on the book of Revelation, entitled, "The New Jerusalem." There will be special music at each service.

The month of June hould see the Church moving into its new building, at 3530 Liberty Road. The proposed $70,000, one-floor, frame structure will provide a 14-room educational unit, a large social unit, and sanctuary to be built on an acre and a half lot of the M. E. Clapper subdivision.

The 124 by 32 foot educational unit and 38 by 80 foot social unit will be erected immediately. The social unit will be used for worship services until the completion of the sanctuary. Upon completion of the sanctuary unit, the social unit will be used as a recreation hall and gym for the community. Architect ia E. J.

Callahan. Volun teer workers will donate much of the labor. The Middle Grove Community Church ia an outgaowth of the American Sunday School Union which hai conducted a Sunday School in the Middle Grove School House since 1942 with Peter J. Becker, missionary. The present church was organized by The Rev.

F. E. Fisher, retired E. U. minister, on March 27, 1955, with 30 charter members.

Dr. Adams, who came originally from Massachusetts, has been in executive work for many years, having served the Utah, Idaho and Montana area for six years before coming to Portland. For several years he has been a trustee of Linfield College. He was honored with a degree of Doctor of Divinity from the Berkeley Baptist Divinity school At the 11 o'clock worship hour Dr. Adams will speak on "The Most Important Test." They took many colored slides and movies of their extensive trip.

They visited the Shah of Iran and Queen Soraya and were allowed to take many pictures of them In Bombay. They also bad many conferences with Indian officials and members of Parliament. They spoke in many college and universities throughout India. In South India they had discus sions with Indian Communists. The Rev.

Wyatt will be presenting some of the political views of some of the Indian leaders in relationship to the American foreign pol icy. On their way home they visited the Arab countries and the Holy Land during the Easter season. They were in the Holy Land during the recent uprising. Tht Rev. Wyatt preached in Beirut, Lebanon and in Cairo, Egypt.

They were well received by the Moslem people and they are now being urged to return for evangelistic meetings throughout the Islamic nations. They also visited a number of the countries of Europe and were in England at the time the Russian officials arrived there and saw the British reaction to this visit. This evening they will show some of the pictures they took in India. The Rev. Wyatt has several speaking engagements throuhout the United States, which includes many missionary conventions.

He leaves next week for Los Angeles. Presbyterian Choirs Plan Vesper Rite A Vesper Service of selected an thems used during the year by the choirs of First Presbyterian church will be sung at a special Music Vesper Service at the church at 4:30 Sunday afternoon. The choirs are under the direc tion of Prof. Don Gleckler with Mrs. Gleckler as associate in charge of the children's and youth choirs.

The Covenant and Crusader choirs and the Senior and Westminister choirs will ting. The Cantata "Gallia" with Mrs. Clorindsf Topping, soprano, as so loist, will be presented by the Senior choir. Mrs. Ralph Dobbs will be at the organ.

A reception for the choir members and friends will be held in the Social hall of the church at the conclusion of the Vesper service. Junior Choir Plans Concert The Junior Choir of First Methodist church will give a concert Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock in the Carrier room of the church, Dr. Brooks Moore, pastor, has announced. Mrs. Genevieve Mickenham is director and Miss Marcia Humphrey is avvompanist.

United Brethren Crusade Begins Mission Street United Brethren Church Launched its "Every Member Evangelism Crusade" this weekend with the Rev. Donald Hall as evangelist. Services were held Friday and are planned this evening and on Sunday. M. Monday, will feature new Salem citizens who have come from displaced persons camps of the world. Mrs.

Lloyd Hockett is arranging for a group of from 12 to IS to be present in their native costumes and to present a part of the program. Dr. Mark Talney, executive secretary of the Oregon Council of Churches with offices in Portland will be present to induct the new officers who are to be elected that night. This is a dinner meeting to which all Protestant church members of Salem are urged to attend. Reservations for the dinner should be phoned in to the office of First Methodist church.

Rev. Gross to Resign Post The Rev. H. W. Gross will re tire from the pastorate of St.

John's Lutheran church in Salem in August after holding the post for 45 years. His retirement will mark 50 years in the Christian ministry. Under the Rev. Gross' leader ship, St. John's church has shown a wide growth in membership and a new church building was con structed at Court and 14th streets a few years ago.

MIDDLE GROVE Ground breaking ceremonies for the new Middle Grove Community Church will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. on the church lot on Daniel Street, one block south of Silverton high way. The Rev. T. R.

Buzzard, super intendent of the Pacific Northwest Conference of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, will have charge of the service, assisted by conference officers. The Rev. Floyd Sartwell, executive director of the Board of Missions of the Rev.Kciser To Discuss Role of Pastor "The Romance of the Ministry" will be the topic of the sermon at First Congregational Church at 11 a.m. Sunday. Dr.

Julian Keiser will speak of adventures and observations during his 15 years in the ministry. Included in the service will be the baptism of infants. On Tuesday at I p. m. church officers 'Will meet in the junior chapel to discuss new proposals for "Our Christian World The speaker will be Dr.
