ra. suddenly granbed and carried away. No arrests. Wednesday afternoon the patent road scraper invented by Mr. John Fleming, of Madison township, was tested on Clinton street between Lewis and Hol- tuan and worked admirably, giving good satisfaction.

The street committee and othars were present. The scraper levels high places and deposits the surplus earth in the ruts, thus rendering tbe road perfectly smooth. The particulars are as follows York, W5.S acting as extra conductor, went on No, 10, which left city at 2 yesterday afternoon. When the train was about two from town York was i from one car to another, when his heod cam-j in contact with tho timbers of Bird's bridge, knocking him from the train. He fell on the track and several care passed over him. Both legs were cut off and one arm was severed from the body at the shoulder.

The or Great Railroad Shown coming. The Great 7-Elephant Railroad Show of the enterprising aud popular Sells Brothers is moving toward in on its tpe- cial trains, and Col. F. H. Bailer, its widely known general railroad agent is now in town making preliminary arrangements for its exhibition, here at au early day.

The colonel has always represented the largest railroad menageries and circuses iu the Country, and informs us, with pardonable pride, that he is now ahead of much the greatest exhibition, in every spect, that he ever pioneered over the rail. A herd -of seven elephants--the largest number owned by any menagerie, a pair of twin baby nursing performing baby elephants, a monster two-horned black rhinoceros, a horned horse from Ethiopia, a magnificent deu of performing African lions, and a whole college of educated brutes, ate among leading features. The circus company i Kaat a in igfirlr! i from which city they will sail for Europe this week. A large number of friends accompanied them to the south depot and bade them bon voyage. Sunday, Father Brammer preached a farewell sermon at the cathedrol which was listened to with marked attention.
