its unusual yellow graphics fast-paced delivery a video-heavy sports report and a separately labeled Treasure Coast segment What will replace The 10 News is unknown Advance TV listings for next week still indicate at 10 pm Rumors of the demise have been swirling among local broadcast circles for weeks Repeated calls to new owner Paramount in Miami went unreturned The station recently was sold to a division of Paramount by Whitehead Media cancellation be the first time WTVX canceled local news Under different ownership in August 1989 WTVX scrubbed news after losing its CBS affiliation The last newscast was delivered by Curt Fonger who now co-anchors the competing WFLX newscast Station officials still are mum on the status of physical location still investigating going to Bill Ballard vice president and general manager of WBFS Channel 33 the UPN station in Miami said in late June WTVX shares space with WPBF on RCA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens Strong industry buzz in West Palm Beach has the station moving to Miami Ballard who could not be reached this weekend said in late June that nothing had been decided WTVX is licensed to Fort Pierce and for several decades operated out of St Lucie County For many years its newscasts focused on Martin St Lucie and Indian River happenings PALM BEACH GARDENS The 10 O'clock News on WTVX Channel 34 (Cable 4) will broadcast its final edition tonight "We didn't have time to make a splash in this weeknight anchor Suzanne Stevens told viewers Friday as she wrapped up hpr last broadcast on the UPN affiliate The half-hour WTVX local newscast debuted in September 1996 but never caught on in the ratings It constantly was overshadowed by the long-running one-hour 10 pm news on rival WFLX Channel 29 (Cable 1 1) the local Fox station Stevens from Virginia Avenue to Edwards Road in Fort Pierce The road is being widened and a center turn lane is being added Completion is expected in the fall LENNARD ROAD: Closed from Walton Road to Dunbrooke Circle from 7 am to 5 pm daily through Aug 13 A culvert is being replaced ESSEX DRIVE: Closed from Glover to Haddon streets from 7 am to 3 pm Monday as a culvert is installed GLOVER STREET:
