PAOEB-IO ALTON EVENING TELEGRAPH Joh Obituaries AUGUST 26, nson Klmw W. Johnson, 67, of 322 Bowman East Alton, a re- tttefl Shell Oil welder, died at 7 a.m. today in St. Luke's Hospital, St. Louis.

He had been ill since Tuesday when he suffered an apparent heart attack and was taken to the St. Louis hospital Tuesday evening. Mr. Johnson retired from Shell Oil in 1960 after 37 years with the company. He began work at the oil refinery in the struc- i department and worked through the various Elmer Johnsoi classifications, becoming a boilermaker layerout in 1949, and held that position to retirement.

Mr. Johnson was born at Dorsey where he lived before mov- Bg to East Alton 37 years ago. Surviving are his widow, the former Gertrude Cooper, whom he married July 15,1923, at Dorsey; two daughters, Mrs. Shirley McCune, Rosewood Heights, and Mrs. Marjorie Compton, Overland Park, two brothers, Paul, East Alton, and Alfred Dorsey; three sisters, Mrs.

Duella Burwell, Litchfield, and Misses Melba and Edna Johnson, Dorsey. There are four grandchildren. Funeral services have tentatively been set for Friday at 2 p.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wood River, of which he was a member.

Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens. The body is at Marks Mort- for several months and at the beginning of his illness moved from East AHon to Roodhouse. His home in East Alton was at 501 Monroe St. Mr. Stone was born July 16, 1904, at Bowling Green, a son of the late Mr.

and Mrs. Josiah M. Stone. He was a member of the Pipe Fitters Local at Wood River and belonged to White Hall Lodge of the Masonic Order. Survivors are his widow, the former Juanita Harp, whom he married Dec.

24, 1925; two daughters, Mrs. Harold Reese, East Alton, and Mrs. L. S. West, Ottawa; two brothers, R.

B. Stone, Manchester, and C. Elgin. The body is at Mackey Funeral Home, Roodhouse, where services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev.

Ivan Beck officiating. Burial will be in Martin Prairie Cemetery, near Roodhouse. Masonic services will be held at 8 p.m. today. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Mae Bullock, whom he married non, preceded her in death. Dec. 3, 1938, at Carthage, survives him. He also leaves his mother. Mrs.

Hettie Tucker, Knobel, a daughter, Mrs. Revonda Barnett, Glendale Gardens, and grandson. His father, Frank Archer, and a sister, Vera Ann Archer preceded him in death Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in First Baptist Church, Roxana, where he was a member. The body is at Marks Mortuary where friends may call after 7 p.m.

John Lineberry, wife of the Rev. John Lineberry, 2633 Grandview Alton. The Rev. Lineberry is pastor of the Sanford Avenue Baptist Church. Funeral services for Mr.

Stafford, will be conducted in his home town, Carbondale, at 2 p.m. Sunday. Walter Voils of Hillsboro, father of Walter L. Voils, 627 Cherry East Alton, died at 9:10 a.m. today in Hillsboro Hospital.

Mr. Voils, 74, is survived by another son, Roger, San Diego, Calif. His wife, Bonnie, died in 1955. Funeral services will be Friday at. 3 p.m.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Juanita Burns of River, Mrs. Howard Gorman of Anderson, one son 'Robert of East Alton, 15 grand- 'children and four great Stone Omer C. (Benny) Stone, a former East Alton resident, and employe of Olin Industries "for 20 years, died Tuesday at a.m. in White Hall Hospit-al.

Mr. Stone, had been i 11 dead on arrival. Following his marriage to the former LaVerna Dunphy of Alton, they lived in Alton, and Drevious to his marriage, he lad lived here while working in the area. He was born at Kankakee, Aug. 15, 1916, a son of Emil and the late Mrs.

Glowacki. His widow and three children, Mrs. Roger Ohl, Michael, and Judith Glowacki, survive him. He also leaves his father; a sister and a brother, and one grandchild. Mrs.

Florence Cannon of 2008 Myrtle died Tuesday in Mather-Yinger Nursing Home where she had been a patient two and a half months. She was 80. A lifelong resident of Alton, Mrs. Cannon was the former Florence Green, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.

Erasmus Green. She was a longtime member of Rocky Fork AME Church, Her husband, Andrew Can- Kruse with Dignity Area relatives have been informed; of the death of Edward J. Kruse, former Wood River Township resident. Mr. Kruse, a retired mail carrier died Tuesday at Pomona, Calif.

One of 10 children of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Kruse, he was born Sept. 17, 1890. Since 1912, with exception of a period during World War I when he was in service overseas with the 91st Division, he had lived in California.

His widow and two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Pergrin and Mrs. Florence Moore, all of Pomona, and two grandchildren survive. There are also two brothers, Gottlieb, Jerseyville, and Herman, Bell, and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Smith, East Alton, Mrs.

Emma Plegge, and Mrs. Victor Lotz, East I Alton. Hayes Burial Held Today With the Rev. Henry 0. Moore, pastor of College Avenue Presbyterian Church, officiating, funeral services for Mrs.

Mary Helen Hayes were held at 2 p.m. today in Smith Funeral Home. Burial was in Upper Alton Cemetery. Pallbearers were Harry Buck, Ben Dorsey, Charles Ashmore, Ben Byford, S. Harold Roberts, and Barney Viviano.

Ham Radio Tower Suit Under Way Testimony in the injunction suit seeking to restrain a Godfrey ham radio operator from erecting a 70-foot tower adjacent to his home got under way in Alton's circuit court shortly before noon today. A group of neighbors are seeking to stop James.M. and D. Elaine Ruyle of the Hand subdivision, north of the Beltline, from erecting the tower. A temporary injunction restraining Ruyle from finishing construction of the steel structure was issued July 17.

The Mrs. Irene Currins, 2835 Viewland widow of Charles (Cassey) Currins, died at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday in Alton Memorial Hospital. She had been in failing health seven years and a patient in the hospital one month. Mrs.

Currins, a former em- ploye at Alton Memorial Hospital, began working there during World War II. She had been retired since 1947. A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Stanley, she was born in Alton, Oct.

17, 1895. She attended the Alton schools and was married here June 24, 1916, to Charles Her husband died last February. A son, Charles, Alton, and four grandchildren, survive her. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Harold, and a sister, Mrs. Hattie Golf.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Staten Chapel, followed by burial in Upper Alton Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 7 p.m. today. Rites Held for will be sold September 1st 1964 for storage fees.
