a Spanish-American war nurse, who was saved from death from bichloride of mercury poisoning last December by Emergency Hospital physicians, is receiving the attention today of Casualty Hospital coctors who are trying to counteract the effects of a rat biscuit which he says he ate with suicidal Intent. Two hours previous to bing found unconscious at Sixth street and North Carolina avenue southeast, late yesterday, Woodrlng entered the office of The Times and a reporter who had done a slight service for him some time ago, that he was "going away." He left a written statement, asking that it be published. Two hours later the Casuatty Hospital physicians were treating him lor poison. Woodrlng is speechless, perhaps from the effects of the rat biscuit, information of which he wrote for the hospital physicians when restored to consciousness. He said ho wanted to die, and expressed the hope that the doctors would be unsuccessful In their attempts to save him.

He was victorious over a siege of cholera, was shot twice and left to die. and finally was attacked by the savage Moros and cruelly tortured. He said he was Imprisoned as an American spy and put In the stocks.

He said he was struck with the butt of a gun and his vocal cords were thus paralyzd. His fifth time to face death was In December, when he took the bichloride poison. In Woodrlng's intended ante-mortem statement left with The Washington Times he reouests that Mrs. Allan K. Capron.
