I To the Houorable President and Mem00 bers of the Police Jury of the Parish of 50 Rapid.es, La. Gomtlemen: We, the undersigned, Albert 50 Bringhurst, of the Parish of Rapides, 50 and Casimir P.

Couvillion, of the Parish of Avoyelles, Surveyors, beg leave to report 25 that by virtue of a resolution of your Honorable Body, adopted on the 28th day of August, 1:94, and a like resolution of 50 the Police Jury of Avoyelles parish, 00 adopted on the 10th day of January, 1894, 70 a copy of each said resolution is attached 75 hereto for proof and reference-we have, 30 in compliance with said resolutions, made 20 a survey of and established the lines 85 dividing the parishes of Rayides and 28 Avoyelles in the manner anu: at the time 47as stated hereafter, to-wit: 00 After making a thorough investigaton of the Acts of the Legislature, we found 00 only two Acts relating to the boundary 50 lines between the said parishes. First. An Act approved February 4th, 1818, 50 (vide page 10, of Acts of 1818); and Seco25 ond. An Act approved April 24th, 1847, 60 (vide Act No. 153, of Acts of 1847).

We 80 therefore, in conformity with said Acts, proceeded as follows: 00 We met at Grimes' Bluff, the place for75 inmerly known as the Widow Holms plan75 tation, and there began where the upper 30 line of the said plantation strikes Red 00 river, at a point which bears S. 51 degrees 45 W--distant 29 75-100 chains, from the 10 point where the south boundary line of 50 section 12 Intersects the upper line of said 00 Holms tract, and marked for corner, a sycamore marked with cross with three 50 lines underneath), bears S. 59 degrees W. I 25 42 links, and another sycamore marked with (cross with three lines underneath), bears N. 52 degrees E.

52 links, and then run with an allowance for magnetic vari1 00 ation of 7 degrees east-a line due north, 05 crossing the north boundary line of Sec. 4', Tp. 3 R. 2 at a point which i 00 bears N. 54 degrees 23 16-100 chains from its north-western 25 fog on same course we passed 2 80-100 chains from the south-west corner of the 3 00 north-east quarter of section 26 of same 50 township and range; we again run on same course and on the public road lead1 50 ing from Marksville, marked two oaks with large (cross with three lines underneath) on the north side of road; and still S00 running on said course we passed 300 chains west of the south-west corner of 00 fractional north-east quarter of section 00 30, in Tp.

4 R. 2 and then run to 7 the south bank of Horse Pen creek, where 1 we marked forcorner a black gum thus: 5 (cross with three lines underneath). 75 Then rcturning to Red river, at said upper line of Holms' tract, we changed the allowance for magnetic variation to 6 6 degrees and 34 minutes and calcula1 80 ting our courserfor the true parish line to Sbe S. 7 degrefs and 18 minutesE. We 3 run on that course across Red river anud 1 50 marked on the south bank a cottonwood thus, (cross with three lines underneath), S00 which bears, west 44 links-continuing we passed through a lake in section 14, Tp.

2 360 R. and then entered Red river S50 just above the "Once More" plantation, S50striking the left bank about 300yards above John. Grimes' old residence, opposite Echo landing; and then run about 6 chains east of said Ed Rd river, striking on the east edge of the west end front gallery window of the S65 Gueringer residence; then passed about 55 feet east of the residence of Adolphe 1 50 Laborde--about 50 yards east of the house I of Alcce Gulllory, and about 5 chains or 6 6 110 yards east of the residence of Eiphege S5.0 Charriers; continuing, we passed through S0or over a number of mounds forming the 1 50 west end of Big Island, in section 1, Tp. 1 15 I. 2 after which we entered a swamp, extending to the plantation of SMrs.

M. D. Cooper, on Bayou Bceuf, whibch lies east of bayon-erossing on the middle 1 50 of the first cablin below the old gin; we then crossed to the left side of channel of said bayou, just below the negro church; 1 00 we then re-crossed to the east bank, cutting off a small part of the Plan9, tation," in Rapides, on which is situated S00 two barne, mfurilcablns, and the store; then passed about 20 yards west of Ith00 residence, now of W. J. Allen, on said Plantation." We then again S24 crossed Bayou ilceof and run to the Texas and Pacific Railroad, which we crossed at 0a point which bears N.

59)(, degrees W.5~j 13.06 chains from the middle of the chan- I nol of Bayou Bo.uf; continuing, we passed 0 about 2 40-100 chains west of the residence 00 of Christian Bubenzer, through a white mulberry, standi'n a few feet south i 00 of the foot-walk, and then passed about 30 feetteast of the shop; continuit we crossed to the east side of the 100 channel of Bayou running along it 00 about 3 chains; then re-crossed to west run about chains to the point 00 where Hoffpower enters Bayou Bceuf, i where we planted for corner, a large post )0 at the baseofa mound and about 33 feem south from the channel of Bayou Bce'uf, 00 in the middle of said thayou -uffpover. We thi fixed the line running westward in the mid.le of Baylou Buf down 00i to a point opp.oite the residece of TP. D1 Weir, and then run between the Shorley and Bradford plantations N. 22 degrees 8 50-100 chains to the north line of said Bradford plantation; then due west along the line dividing the said plantations, following the section line to the corner of sections 20 19 23 24 In Tp. 1 R.

2 where a hackberry is marked thus St. Landry) Avoyeles S. Talbert. Rapdes) and an ash marded with a (cross with three lines underneath), bears S. 75 degrees 30 links distant.

We then run on the line between sections 23 and 24 and between 31 and 32 due south to the corner of sections 32 31 36 37 where an elm Is marked with a (cross with three lines underneath), and bears N. 43 degrees 14 links, which said corner is the south-west corner of the plantation of A. M. Hsas Son. This point being about where the parish of Rapides claims to strike St.

Landry, we there stopped. Upon investigation, finding that the line we had run north of Red river was not quite parallel to the section lines and that it diverged to the west, we again met on Monday, January at the same starting point, and correcting our allowance for variation of 7 to 6 degrees 30 minutes E. we run due north, crossing the north boundary of Section 41, Tp. 8 R. 2 at a point 25 53-100 chains from its north-west corner, which bears S.

54 degrees and continuing on same course, 116-100 chains east of middle of the house of Abe Scroggs; then at the public road from Alexandria to Marksville, marked a pine due south of road thus, (cross with three lines underneath), and one due north of road with same marks; then ran to Richard Hathoru's, passing 4 20-100ch. east of the south-west corner of the fractional north-east quarter of section 30 Tp. 4 R. 2 and then passing about 70 yards east of the residence of said Hathorn and continued to Horse Pen creek to a point on the south bank where a large gum bears S. 14 degrees 33 links distant, and a beech tree bears S.

54 degrees 75 links distant, both of which are marked thus, (cross with three lines underneath): from same point a gum, a magnolia and a beech all standing together on the north bank ok said creek, bear about N. 20 degrees E. The line was well marked all the way from Pen to Huffpower, thus and along the plantations of Bradford, Haas and others, was marked thus, (cross with circle around it and three lines un- derneath), as usual the land marks are made. The said survey was made during the a month of November, 1894, and on the 7th, a 8th and 9th days of January, 1895, with a the assistance of H. S.

Swain, Bubenzer and Clarence Hopkins. In faith whereof we affix our signatures a In presence of competant witnesses. A. H. BRINGRUIST, Surveyor for Rapides Parish.
