For white bass, anglers need to know we've been having some ice back in the coves. And when the sun pops out, the white bass will head for a shoreline on the sunny side (north side) and concentrate wherever there are shad and minnows. Fish right up on this fringe ice as it dissolves, because that's where the fish are. For walleye, I'm going to suggest using a jig and minnow fished very slow on main lake points 6-10 feet deep." The amateur winner was Randy Vissering of Boling-brook 18.48 pounds YOUTH APPLICATIONS DUE Permit aplications will be accepted Nov. 1-18 from hunters wanting to participate in youth and adult hunts for pheasant, quail and rabbits at Sangchris Lake State Park and at Railsplitter State Recreation Area near Lincoln. At Sangchris, the youth hunt is set for Dec. 7, with the adult hunt scheduled for Dec.

8. At Railsplitter, the youth hunt is set for Nov. 30. Adult hunts will be Dec. 1, 7 and 8.

Available permits will be allocated by random drawings on Nov. 19. Hunters between age 10-15 are eligible for the youth hunts and must be accompanied by a non-hunting adult 18 or older. Applicants must be at least 12 years old to participate in the adult hunts, but hunters under age 16 must accompanied by a supervisory adult.
