Russell, all interested in the Dr. tberle note swindle went down to Fort Scott Monday evening, to attend court. The crse was set for uesday, We fr.i!ed to receive the Walnut Journal last week, and we have since learned that it has suspended for want of support. The Journal Is a good paper, and it is certainly a sad commentary on the town to let it die for want of support. But Walnut is dead, and we fear beyond resurrection.

A solicitor and traveling correspondent of the Wichita Journal, a re submission paper, was in town last Saturday, and claimed to have taken several subscribers. He has travel- el all over the state and claims to know that the sentiment is strong and tining ground in almost every locality. Bronson has an amateur dramatc club, and they are now preparing a drama entitled "The turn of the Tide." which will be given to the public sometime during the holidays, or soon artervards. The parties connected with it are competent to play their parts well, and we may expert something from our home tal ent that will be good. C.

B. Griffith of Uniontown, was in town Monday and had some printing done to ad rtise "The Confederate spy," which will be played at that place by a home dramatic club to night. Mr. GrihVh is a bright young man and an excellent performer on the stage, a was proven to the people of Bronson by the pnrt he performed in the drama "Among the Breakers" at this place last winter. We took a look through the Bronson mills tnis week, and are glad to note that under t'ie management of 'Messrs.

Geyer Dix. many needed improvements are being made. They have recently put in a new bolt and are now manufacturing a srood qualitv of bucl wheat flour. The mills though not an insti uvn of mammoth proportions, is enterpris in? hands. Its proprietors merit the encourage merit, of a liberal patronage by the public.

If Bronson takes pride in any one thing it ought to be that it is surrounded by such a n-agmheent farming and stock raising country and that it has in its natural territory some of the most xtensive stock feeders in the state. There are manv farmers here who feed from one to four car loads of cattle and hogs every winter, and as a result nearly all the corn that is raised in this part of the country is con sum ed at home, and those who sell realize a bet ter price from their neighbors who feed than others less fortnnate, who must depend on the regular market price at the railroad sta tions. ATraln Load. It is a wrll settled lact that Bronson ship more grain, stock and pioduce than any other wn west of rort Scott to Iola, if not to Yates Center, But it is not of en that we send out a full train load. On Monday last.

Love, Entzminger Ci: Anderson shipped from hers a full train load of cattle, consisting of thirteen of the celebrated pal cars of the Candy Cittle Car Companv. containing 241 head of tat cattle. H. J. Russell Lad charge of the cattle and the train went west via.

Yates Center to Kansas City, and from there over the A. to Chicago. The aathor of the above is satisfied that it is a literary gem, but regrets that he could not work in Roots. Shoes Rub ber Goods, Slippers, and Low Prices, without spoiling the Poetry. The only way to get n.oie verses of equal merit will be to patronize the Bronson Boot and Shoe House. G. H.

xor a iew aays, ana wm oe a r. Wednesday he went to Fort Scott and had the pleasure of seeing on the train, Hon. S. Weaver, Superintendent of the south west Division of the Mail Service. Mr.

Weaver is an energetic mam and got his position by hard work and out-witting fanner Funston, who had recommended onother man. So the story goes. Also saw the genial editor of the Pilot. While in Fort bcoit he called at the office of the Daily News and found Messrs. Martin and Jenness busy as bees, getting out their paper, which is meeting with much success.

He also attended the Matinee at Patterson's Operahousi. Tuesday afternoon, and wit nessed'-Little Lord Fontleroy." The play was very fine. All the actors sustained their parts well and played with great naturalness. Fnday he came home and found that some one fool or maniac or something had en-tered his ht use Thursday nigut, for the pur pose of stealing something that they did not get. There was uo one at home, not any money even.

If the fellow will call again, when I am at home, 1 will give him a free pass to see his great grandfather, and also pay funeral expenses. Before this is in print, I will be in Missouri nut to avoid any body sheriffs or constables but to see a friend. I ask the fervent prayers of the readers, that I may not be tempted to imbibe too much of that beverage that flows so easily into Kansas and Kansans. I will write you a Missouri letter for next issue. It is time that we were importing some thing else from Missouri than liquid bre and I ug jnice.

I sea, from your Xenia correspondent that Dr. Moore has located there. Allow me to congratulate the people of Xenia on their good fortune. I knew the doctor intimately in Kentucky and recommend him to the confidence of all. He a successful practitioner and merits a liberal patronage.

I am indebted to Harper Bros, for a beautiful calander for 1S90. Jas. Stocker was in town week. a few days last Post Master Noble has moved the post office into the building he bought recently and now more commmodious quarters -and better light. Since writing the above, I learn that on the same night that some one entered my house, an attempt was made to enter the hotel bat the burglar was frightened away.

A few nights b- fore, an attempt was made to get into the Patterson house Fri'in all the- cases it is probable that there is a thief hereabouts and it is certain if he makes many more attempts, he will get in to trouble. J. W. Caldwell is preaching, and visiting friends in Missouri. T.

is it anv wonder that the farmers of Kansas are getti discouraged, when they have to sell their pro duce at such ruinous prices? Is it any wonder that the President suggests that the protection principle be extended to the producers, as veil as to the manufacturers?
