Mrs. Hite and Mrs. Howe are cousins. Miss Rosa Hite, after visiting a few days at Mexico, came up Wednesday, and after being the guest of Mr. and Mrs.

All contestants must be students of a county, town, city or college school, and under 18 years of age. As Macon county touches Monroe it will be represented by a lady. Those wishing to take part in the contest will please notify me by Dec. 8, as I must report to the president by Dec. 15.

If there are several applicants I will have a preliminary contest between the 8tb and loth of December. I am anxious to have Macon county get the prize, which is a fine gold watcb. Please respond promptly. W. A.

Louis, Mo. Miss Eflie Sparrow died at her home near College Mound, Nov. 17, 1894, of typhoid feyer and catarrh of the stomach, after great suffering during five weeks. She was laid to rest in the Kitchen graveyard beside her little Oma, who one brief year ago passed to the other shore. She expressed a desire to leave this world of trouble.
