22, 2002, at Kirkwood Residential Care Center in Redding. Private family services were conducted. Born Nov. 13, 1910, in Joplin, she moved to Shasta County in 1999 from Capitola. She was a secretary for Luster Motors in Glen Cove, N.Y., a member of the American Red Cross and the Rebekah Lodge.

Survivors include husband William sons William III of Key West, daughters Jane Laind of New York City and Jill Hadsell of Palo Cedro; and three grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Allen Dahl Funeral Chapel in Palo Cedro. Estela Bory REDDING Estela Bory, 75, of Redding died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at his residence. Private family services will be conducted.

Mrs. Bory was born July 13, 1926, in Havana. She was a homemaker. Survivors include husband Cristobal; sons Cristobal of La Verne and George of Redding; daughter Dulce McCullough of Redding; brother Jorge Guerra of Baldwin Park; sister Antonia Montano of Annapolis, six grandchildren; and four great -grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Allen Dahl Funeral Chapel in Palo Cedro.

Marjorie Berryhill SANTA ROSA- Memorial services for former Redding resident Marjorie Berryhill, 88, of Santa Rosa will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church in Kenwood. The Rev. Hugh Stevenson of the church will officiate.

Mrs. Berryhill died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at her residence. Born Dec. 25, 1913, in Dunsmuir, 'she moved to Santa Rosa in 1995 from Redding.

She was a journalist with the Dunsmuir News in Dunsmuir, an employee of Diamond International in Dunsmuir and an employee of Es-Mount Shasta Memorial Hospital in Mount Shasta. Survivors include daughter Betty Hannigan of Santa Rosa; brother Kirk Carlton of San Mateo; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Born Jan. 23, 1925, in Detroit, she moved to Shasta County one month ago from her birthplace. She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Detroit. Survivors include son Rodney of Maui, Hawaii; daughters Deborah Upshaw of Redding and Sandra Castillo Jackson of Shawnee, sister Susan Morrow of Algonac, seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Roe BELLA VISTA Robert Earl Roe, 69, of Bella Vista died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at Redding Medical Center. Private family services will be conducted. Born June 5, 1932, in Grand Rapids, he moved to Shasta County in 1988 from Duarte. He was a truck driver for North American Van Lines.

Survivors include wife Alice; sons Robert of Rancho Cucamonga, Michael of Ontario and Terry of Bella Vista; daughters Bonnie Anderson of Ontario and Beverly Litterell and Carol, both of Cottonwood; 10 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one great great grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Allen Dahl Funeral Chapel in Palo Cedro. Floyd Adcock WHITMORE Floyd Edgar Adcock, 80, of Whitmore died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at his residence. On this date: In 1902, in a surprise verdict, James Brown was found not guilty of lynching Martin Wilson. It was assumed that Brown's acquittal meant the dismissal of charges for the other 13 residents of Lookout who were also accused of lynching Calvin Hall and his two sons, Daniel Yantis and Wilson.

In 1952, Mrs. Lotta Chenoweth won the Riverview Golf and Country Club women's point-par golf tournament in the 18-hole division. Many of the women played with new clubs since a recent clubhouse fire had destroyed many of the members' clubs. In 1977, the Clear Creek Community Services District board of directors in Happy Valley decided to go ahead with the annexation proceedings for 1,841 acres despite an ongoing drought. District Manager Arlan Tift said the decision wouldn't affect the water supply because many of the new residents depended on wells and the others wouldn't be added until the end of summer.

In 1992, a citizen's group filed suit against the city of Dunsmuir in an attempt to resurrect the town's police force. The eight plaintiffs claimed the city had no authority to disband the department, which had been replaced the week before by the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Department. Dorothy Martin RED BLUFF Dorothy Dora Martin, 89, of Red Bluff died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at SunBridge Care Center i in Red Bluff. Private services will be conducted.

11, 1907, in Gilbert, he moved to Shasta County in 1991 from Alhambra. He was a concrete finisher with his last employment with Del Web Construction and was a member of Laborer's Local Union No. 300, both in Los Angeles. Survivors include son Arthur of Pasadena; sisters Alice Sweet of Long Beach, Mac Oliva and Dora, both of Los Angeles; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Thelma Cox COTTONWOOD Thelma Louise Cox, 89, of Cottonwood died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at her residence. Private family services will be conducted. Burial will be at Los Molinos Cemetery. Born Nov.

26, 1912, in Mound City, she moved to Tehama County in 1974 from Escondido. She was a secretary-clerk and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. 'Beaner' Hisey DUNSMUIR A celebration of life for "Beaner" Hisey, 57, of Dunsmuir will be throughout the day Thursday at his residence.

A 10-field sports park proposed in east Redding got final planning commission approval Wednesday. The $17 million park, off Viking Way and Old Oregon Trail, was up for a use permit requiring all softball, baseball and soccer games to end by 11 p.m. The permit also demands that field lights and public address systems not annoy neighbors.

Commissioners unanimously approved the permit without discussing bicycle safety on streets approaching the park. Redding police Cpl. Paul Grooms 1 has said that police regularly get complaints about drag racing on Tarmac Road and Abernathy Lane, which border the park on the south and west. Big League Dreams USA, a Southern California firm that manages three sports parks in Riverside County, will run the Redding park as well. The city will build the park on 104 acres it recently annexed next to the municipal corporation yard.

It will leave about a third of that land untouched to protect vernal pools. Crews have already cleared blue oaks on the property to avoid disturbing the raptors who might have nested in the trees this spring and summer. POLICE LOG The following thefts vandalism were reported urday through Tuesday to Redding Police Department: Several arcade games were broken into and items removed at a business in the 900 block of Old Alturas Road. A compact disc player was stolen from a vehicle i in the 200 block of Hilltop Drive. A doorknob was tampered with in the 3000 block of South Market Street.

wheelchair was stolen from a residence in the 800 block of Parkview Avenue. A bicycle was stolen in the 1300 block of Butte Street. A lawn was vandalized in the 2500 block of Wyndham Lane. driveway was vandalized with chalk in the 3600 block of Somerset Avenue. Graffiti in chalk was marked on the front buildings of a school in the 500 block of Springer Drive.

Theft of items from a vehicle was reported in the parking lot of Toys Us on Hilltop Drive. Lawn ornament statues were stolen in the 4500 block of Alta Mesa Drive. Hubcaps were stolen from a vehicle in the 900 block of Dana Drive. and A theft from a vehicle was Sat- reported in the 300 block of the Park Marina Circle. The following thefts and vandalism were reported Saturday, Sunday and Monday to the Shasta County Sheriff's Department: Park equipment was stolen in the 13000 block of Sacramento Street in Shasta Lake.

Vehicle tires were slashed in the 41000 block of Old School Road in French Gulch. A window was broken out of a vehicle in the 37000 block of Main Street in Burney. A check was stolen from a residence in the 20000 block of Quebec Street in Burney. A golf cart was stolen in the 15400 block of Wonderland Boulevard in Mountain Gate. A classroom window was broken in the 7400 block of Churn Creek Road near Churn Creek Bottom.

A wallet was stolen in the 19100 block of Gravel Plant Road near Churn Creek Bottom. A vehicle brake line was cut in the 6800 block of Lady Smith Avenue near Anderson. A fence was vandalized at Flat Oak Road and Chestnut Street in Happy Valley.
