Moore and Lady Cheshire Girl called Sue Smith, a £4 3s. 6d. per week painter, was fined £lO for taking and driving away the vehicle without consent; £2 for aiding and abetting Steenkiste to drive without a competent driver; £1 for aiding and abetting Steenkiste to drive without insurance and £1 for aiding and abetting Steenkiste to drive without plates. Steenkiste said that on May 13 be met his mate and a girl called Sue in Tunbridge Wells. After seeing the girl home on the bus to Plimwell they thought they had missed the last bus home.

When they saw a van parked on the garage forecourt he suggested they should take it. He said they pushed the van on to the road and drove down the road. In a statement. Smith said after they had seen the girl home and walked for about three-quarters of an hour. they came to the garage.

He moved the forecourt warning bell and with Steenkiste driving left the garage. After travelling about a mile the van was making too much noise and they decided to leave it. BARBARA 'MAITRE', of Isdividual dressing up INQUEST TOLD: MAN LOST WILL TO LIVE- AMAN who had su ff ered from a depressive illness for some years managed to obtain a large quantity of aspirin and with them took his own life, it was stated at a Tonbridge inquest on Thursday of last week. Mr. D. Thomson, Deputy Coroner for West Kent, recorded a verdict of suicide on Mr. Thomas Bradlaugh Long 457), a retired caterer, of Forstall Farm Cottage, Withyham, who died on May 16.

Recently he had suffered from a depressive illness with lack of concentration. disturbed sleep, and lees of will to live. He was admitted to hospital and underwent treatment which slightly improved his condition for a few months. Overdose Dr. Evans said he was called to Mr.

Lenes house by Mrs. Lang on the afternoon of May 16. He was ill in his bedroom and appeared to be collapsed. and he was taken to hospital. There was no evidence of drugs in the room.

Mr. Leng died shortly afterwards and Dr. lan Anderson was present at the postmortem examination. which revealed that he had taken about 20 aspirins. The cause of death was given as respiratory failure due to an overdose of aspirin.

Dr. Anderson said it was possible for such an effect to be produced in anyone taking such a large dose. but Mr. Leng's poor health made the condition worse. Mrs.

Leng said that she kept the drugs prescribed for her husband hidden in various parts of the house Some time after his death she found in the pockets of his overcoat an empty aspirin bottle and another container of 12 tablets. join society More to rid land of rabbits MEMBERSHIP of the Ashdown Rabbit Clearance Society increased during the past year to a total of 100. Cheale (chairman' told the annual meeting at Withvham on Tuesday that a total of 10.145 acres was now covered by the society, and the percentage of acres in membership was 54 per cent at the end of the Year. still well above the national average."
