Trobaugh, 83, dies torney under Mayor Roy Brown trom 1959 until his departure in 1963, amid controversy over oil well drilling permits. His most interesting client, he once told The Southern Illinoisan, was gangster Connie Ritter, a principal in the plot to kill West City Mayor Joe Adams, and the last of the Charlie Birger gang to be punished for his deeds. Active in community affairs, Mr. Trobaugh served on the Benton Library Board since 1929 and as president for most of those years, and as president of the Franklin County Shrine Club in the late 60s. He was named Citizen of the Year in 1976 by the West Frankfort Daily American.

He took a deep interest in music, giving his first performance at the age of 10 and directing a Murphysboro church choir at 15. He founded the Egyptian Choral Club in West Frankfort in 1934; it won first prize in the Chicago-land Music Festival four times before it disbanded. TRobaugh, a West Frankfort attorney for almost 60 years, are pending at Stone Funeral Home in West Frankfort.

Mr. Trobaugh, 83, of 301 E. Oak died at 1 a.m. today, June 25, 1979, at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago, after a long illness.

He is remembered as a colorful character, the attorney for a member of Charlie Birger's gang and the man who fostered musical organizations and every Christmas led the singing of Handel's "Messiah" at the West Frankfort Community High School's Christmas program. Born in Murphysboro, Mr. Trobaugh started as a reporter at the Murphysboro Republican-Era and became its city editor at 18, after winning recognition for his coverage of a tornado near Gorham. After graduating from Valparaiso University Law School in 1917, he became a member of the Illinois Bar Association in 1918 and set up practice in Murphysboro. Two years later, he moved his practice to West Frankfort, joining Stephen ebecc Rebecca "Becky" Tomer, 39, of 707 N.

Du Quoin Benton, died at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 1979, at her home after an extended illness. The wife of the Rev. J. Lloyd Tomer, Mrs.

Tomer was a co-Christian ecuca-tion director of the First Church of God in Benton, helping to establish a resource center for Sunday School teachers there. today at the funeral home. Mr. Absher was electrocuted in a home accident. Williamson County Coroner James Wilson said Mr. Absher apparently touched a live wire while doing electrical work in the basement of his home.

He was employed by United Parcel Service at Marion as a driver. He was a member of the Teamsters Local No. 710 of Chicago. He was also a member of the Hurricane Baptist Church in Herrin. He was born Oct.

5, 1952, in Herrin, to Louis and Margaret Ward Absher. He was married to Darlene Lawrence, Dec. 23, 1970, in Herrin. Sunday, June 24, 1979, at the nursing home. Shirley Sanders Morford Shirley Sanders Morford, 85, of East Peoria, died at 1:25 a.m. Sunday, June 24, 1979, at the Queenwood Convalescence Home in Morton. Mrs. Morford was a housewife and a member of The Church of Christ.

She was born Aug. 27, 1893, at Vienna, to Lincoln and Mary Mathis Sanders. She was married to David C. Morford April 9, 1921, at Vienna, and the preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 1939.

Two brothers and five sisters also preceded her in death. Survivors include one daughter, Jea-nette Newman of Jonesboro; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Roscoe Sanders of Creal Springs. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Norris and Son Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Burial will be in the Berea Cemetery in Vienna.

Friends may call afer 4 p.m. today at the chapel of the funeral home. Orby Allen Baker Orby Allen Baker, 59, of Goreville, died at 8:30 a.m. today, June 25, 1979, at Marion Memorial Hospital. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Meredith Funeral Home in Goreville.

Frank E. Trobaugh (1968 photo) njunes Marion Memorial Hospital. She was born in Marion to Raymond and Mary Hill Norris on April 29, 1952. She was married to Roger Bozarth in Marion. Mrs.

Bozarth was a member of the Scottsboro Church of God. Survivors are her husband; stepmother, Glenda Norris of Marion; three children, Dale Ray and Mandy Jo Bozarth, both at home, and Leroy Cop-her Jr. of Marion; six sisters, Louise McRoy, Rita Fay Burnett, Linda, Ga-briella and Melissa Moses and Rayeane Marie Norris, all of Marion; and two brothers, David Norris and Michael Douglas Norris, both of Marion. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Mitchell Funeral Home in Marion.

Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today. Helen Smith Helen Smith, 72, of Springfield, formerly of Herrin, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 1979, at the St.

John's Hospital in Springfield. Mrs. Smith was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Springfield. She was born June 21, 1907, near Ga-latia, to Gussie and Gertrude Lockler Mitchell. She was married to Leon Smith, June 24, 1928, in Herrin.

He died Jan. 25, 1976. Survivors include two sons, Mike and James, both of Springfield; a sister, Mary Blood of Springfield; grandsons Jeff and Russell, both of Springfield, and a great-grandson, Eric Christopher of Springfield. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Johnson Funeral Home in Herrin.

Correction Thomas Monahan Funeral arrangements are pending at the Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort for Thomas Monahan, 58, of 602 Caldwell, Chicago Heights, formerly of West Frankfort, who died Sunday, June 24, 1967, at the St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights.

Edythe B. Clipner Edythe B. Clipner, 85, of 1822 Edith Murphysboro, died Sunday at home from heart complications. Miss Clipner was born May 6, 1894, in Murphysboro to Charles and Mary Foster Clipner. She was a retired chief operator at the Murphysboro General Telephone office.

She was also a member of St. Peters United Church of Christ. Survivors include a sister, Edna Edwards of Belleville, and a niece, Gloria Edwards, also of Belleville. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Crawshaw Mortuary Chapel, Murphysboro.

Burial will be at the Tower Grove Cemetery, Murphysboro. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Friends may make memorials to the charity of their choice. Margaret Sheeler Margaret Sheeler, 74, of Coulterville died today, June 25, 1979, at Sparta Community Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Pyatt Funeral Home in Coulterville. Antoinette LaBash Antoinette LaBash, 73, of 329 Walnut Zeigler, died at 7:40 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 1979, in the Styrest Nursing Home in Carbondale. She was born Oct. 8, 1905, in France to Antoine and Marie Wuillemart Chal-let.

She was married to Louis LaBash, who died in January', 1978. She was a housewife. Survivors are a daughter, Dorothy Waters of Belleville; sons, Louis Jr. of Collinsville and Joseph of Orlando, a sister, Georgette DeVaux of Christopher; and one grandchild. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials to the Boy Scouts of America, Egyptian Council, Herrin.

Raymond Howard Warren Raymond Howard Warren, 71, of 606 Kuca High Rise, West Frankfort, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 1979, at his home. Mr. Warren was retired from the Bonifield Truck Lines of West Frankfort. He was born Feb.

4, 1903, in Jasper, to James and Callie Quarrels Warren. Survivors include his wife, Willie Jo of West Frankfort; a son, Ron Warren of West Frankfort; a daughter, Debbie Roberts of Wrest Frankfort; a stepson, J.D. Dillon of West Frankfort; two stepdaughters, Geraldine Johnson and La-verne Spowart, both of West Frankfort; five brothers, Joe, Alfred and Ernest, all of West Frankfort, Alvin of Torring-ton, and Richard of Anaheim, six sisters, Joy McCormick, Celia Martin, and Isabelle Warren, all of West Frankfort; Lou Bush of Naper-ville; Faye Feuquoi of Middletown, N.Y., and Frances Dorris of Anaheim, 15 grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren. Granite Marion, died early Sunday, shortly after she was injured when the car in which she was riding slammed into a tree just off Illinois 13, Marion police said. The accident occured at 1:30 a.m. Sunday when the car, driven by her husband, Roger D. Bozarth, 23, of Marion, spun out of control, police said. Police said the pavement was wet and it was raining at the time.

The car, which was traveling east on the highway, skidded off the pavement just beyond the Pizza Hut restaurant, the just west of the North Russell Street intersection. The car crossed over a ditch, hit a tree, spun around further and finally stopped, partially wrapped around a tree, police said. Roger Bozarth was treated and released from Marion Memorial Hospital. Another passenger, Patricia E. Norris, 21, of Route 6, Marion, is listed in guarded condition today in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, where she was transferred from the Marion hospital.

Mrs. Bozarth died at 4:25 a.m. in Mabel Copeland Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher for Mabel Cope-land, 72, of 604 W. Market Christopher, who died at 9:06 p.m.

Hall Fred C. Hall, 76, of 101 Kuca High Rise, Wrest Frankfort, died at 3:50 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 1979, at the Union Hospital in West Frankfort. Mr. Hall was a retired coal miner who last worked at the Orient No.

2 mine in West Frankfort. He was also a retired carpenter who was employed as the custodian of the Kuca High Rise. He was a member of the Mt. Olive Free Will Baptist Church near West Frankfort; the carpenter's Local No. 1193; the Senior Citi zens, the World War I Barracks; the American Legion; and the A.C.

Marsh Odd Fellows Lodge No. 496, all of West Frankfort. Hewas born Jan. 27, 1903, in Franklin County, to George and Ella Snethen Hall. He was married to May Stacey in 1925, in West Frankfort.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Vurtis of West Frankfort, two grandchildren, three brothers, George of Kochise, Marshall of WTest Frankfort, and James of Peoria; and two sisters, Ruby Perry and Naomi Green, both of West Frankfort. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, a brother and a sister. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in Wfest Frankfort. Burial will be in the Denning Cemetery in West Frankfort.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today, at the funeral home, where Odd Fellows Rites will be held at 7:30 p.m. Keith Absher Fred Oliver Private funeral services will be held at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort for Fred Oliver, 76, of the American Beauty Nursing Home in West Frankfort, who died at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 1979, at the nursing home. Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery in Marion.

There will be no visitation. Mr. Oliver was a retired coal miner who last worked at the Peabody No. 19 mine. He was born Nov.

27, 1902, in Brownsfield, to James and Annie Abbott Oliver. Survivors include a daughter, Anna-belle D'Alessandro of West Frankfort. Leslie William McReynolds Leslie Wrilliam McReynolds, 66, of Route 1, West Frankfort" died at 11:55 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 1979, at the Union Hospital in West Frankfort. Mr.

McReynolds was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Coast Guard. He attended the Trinity Methodist Church of West Frankfort. He was a member of the Middleton Masonic Lodge No. 180 of Middleton, Wis. He was a former employee of the Old Ben No.

8 Mine in West Frankfort. He retired in March 1973 from the Mendota State Hospital in Madison, Wis. He was bcrn March 25, 1913, in Franklin County, to William and Nellie Gray McReynolds. He was married May 18, 1940, in St. Louis, to Lillian Madge Thompson.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda. Survivors include his wife; three sisters, Ethel Nolen of West Frankfort, Goldia Hayes of St. Louis, and Opal Furlong of Macomb; and a brother, Corky of Wrest Frankfort. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort.

Burial will be in the Tower Heights Cemetery in West Frankfort. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family request contributions may be made to the American Cancer An obituary for Effie Mueller, Curd, 83, of De Soto, in Sunday's paper, omitted that she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 79 in De Soto.

Mrs. Curd was initiated into the order on Sept. 26, 1923. She also was a member of the Christian Fellowship Committee of the Grand Chapter of the Eastern Star. In 1940 she was Worthy Matron; Pete Brumley was the Worthy Patron at that time.

The obituary also incorrectly stated that she is survived by three stepsisters. She is survived by three stepdaughters, Lillian Higgins of Elkville, and Mary Snyder and Edna Zacher, both of Pinckneyville.
