"Americans United" theme of Peach Festival parade "We will have a commentator to describe each unit as it approaches the area near the city administration building." -Warren Turner Peach Festival parade organizer By SCOTT POWELL Ledger Staff Writer Red, white and blue colors will be on prominent display Saturday, July 13 at 9 a.m. when the South Carolina Peach Festival begins its annual parade through downtown Gaffney. The theme for this year's parade is "Americans United." All participants are asked to display the American Flag on their unit. "We are also asking that all participants send a detailed description of their unit because we will have a commentator to describe each unit as it approaches the area near the city administration building," parade organizer Warren Turner said. Each participant will be given a specific time to begin gathering at Petty and Kutledge streets for the parade.

"We are trying to do this in order to eliminate the mass confusion we had last year," Turner said. "No vehicle will women's organization that seeks to enrich the lives of its members and those it comes in contact with by parading, dressing outrageously and sponsoring charitable fundraising events. Most recently, the STQs appeared in the Mighty Moo parade in Cowpens and the Spartanburg Spring Fling. The Sweet Potato Queens movement is based on a pair of books by Jill Conner Brown. A third book in the series is expected to be published in January 2003.
