12- The Gaffney Ledger, Monday, January 14, 1980 MOBILE HOMES FOR HELP WANTED SERVICES REAL ESTATE ITEMS FOR YOUR SCRAP BOX By Jack Allison Dear Friends, As we reflect on the situation in Iran and other places in our world I would like to share with you, our Scrapbook readers, a very thought provoking poem that I came across recently. I trust that each of you find it as interesting as I did. Jack PEACE There is a place of peace and rest A place of perfect quietness Within a world of fear and dread Where human blood is being shed. There is a peace in God. Our trials are many in this world And Satan's darts are being hurled Against the children of the Lord, Carrie M.

Bookout Carrie M. Bookout, 69, wife of Frank Bookout of Vero Beach, died Saturday afternoon. Also surviving are two sons, Gene Bookout Miami, Fla. and Bobby Bookout of Warner Robbins, two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Stanbridge and Mrs.

Judy Auton, both of Vero But -His angels stand on guard. There is a peace in God. Thru trial we learn to overcome, Thru Christ our victories are won. Come, lay your burdens at His feet And find this inner peace so sweet. There is a peace in God.

Be strong, coui ageous, ur afraid. Trust in God, be not dismayed. He's promised never to forsake, To guide and guard each step we take. There is peace in God. blessed peace, perfect rest With which the child of God is blest! Men's hearts are failing them for fear But our redemption draweth near.

There is a peace in God. HEARING TESTS SET FOR GAFFNEY Free electronic hearing tests will be given at Fay's Drug (formerly Craft's Drug), Gaffney, on Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. by Beltone Hearing Aid Service.

Search Underway For Plane SMITHFIELD. Utah (AP) Searchers today prepared for the second full day of tramping through rugged, snow-bound mountains and avalanche areas in hopes of reaching a plane that crashed with four persons aboard.

Twenty experienced searchers, hampered by fog, rain and snow, attempted to reach the plane by snowshoe Sunday, but were forced to turn back late in the day by darkness and bad weather. Authorities said the men would leave their base camp and resume the search at dawn today. The weather forecast was for snow in the mountains through today, with gusty winds at times. "The weather got so bad with the snow and fog that even the ground crews have been called Cache County sheriff's dispatcher Cliff Smith said Sunday night. "What they're hoping for is the weather to break so they can get the helicopter up," he said.

A helicopter from Hill Air Force Base near Ogden was standing by Sunday, but poor weather prevented its use. Smith said he did not know how close searchers got to the aircraft Sunday. The crash site is about seven miles from the nearest road. The aircraft, a Piper Cherokee, with four Eugene, residents on board, was believed to have gone down Saturday afternoon in Cottonwood Canyon southwest of Tony Grove Lake and near the level in the Cache Mountains 10 to 12 miles east of here, said Sheriff's Lt. Larry McFarland.

The crash area was determined from radar plots and an emergency locator transmitter signal, which went dead Saturday night, he said. McFarland said the plane was flown by Mike Martin of Greenville, S.C., but names of the three passengers had not been released. Authorities said the plane had taken off from Rock Springs, Saturday afternoon and was headed to Eugene with a fuel stop i in Twin Falls, Idaho. The plane went down about 2:30 p.m., before it reached Twin Falls. Realtors 489-3114 radio transmission said the plane was icing up and having trouble maintaining altitude. McFarland said that because of the danger, only experienced deputies and county Search and Rescue members were being used.

He said the searchers were spread apart, using ropes and trying to stick to ridges and avoid overhangs and other spots where they could be engulfed by avalanches. The ceiling was about 7,400 feet, so the searchers were in clouds part of the time, he said. They were using snowshoes "for all the good they're doing," in feet of old snow, partially turned to slush, and covered by 14 inches of new snow. said it was like walking in a snow cone, McFarland said. He said if the pilot was able to "pancake it in," there could be survivors, but if the plane ran into a mountain, there would be little chance of anyone surviving.
