Winter, Jr. William Edward (Bill) Winter, 63, of 116 Escambia died Friday, July 18, 2008, a at home surrounded by his family. Born in Altoona, he was the husband of Carla Cooper Winter and son of William Edward Winter Sr. of Fripp Island and the late Virginia Ann Woodcock Winter.

He was an attorney and partner with the law firm Winter Rhoden. He began his law practice in Gaffney in 1973 and was a graduate of the UniE versity 0 of South Carolina and Washington and Lee University. Mr. Winter was a retired colonel in the United States Army Reserve and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation of Gaffney. In addition to his wife and father, surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth W.

Forbes and husband, Zeb, and Ann W. Meade and husband, Kyle, all of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Patty Crower and husband, Jim, of Port Royal and Barbara Park and husband, George, of Greenwood; three grandchildren, Savannah Forbes, Cooper Forbes and Sarah Meade, all of Charlotte. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 23, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held Thursday, July 24, at 10 a.m.

at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, 308 College Drive, with the Rev. Wayman Henry and Dr. Jim McClure officiating. Smith and was first married to the late William Huskey. She was the daughter of the late William Parnell Putnam and Lois Best Putnam. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and member of Roebuck Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family, whom she loved and adored, and especially enjoyed the lake and beach family excursions.

Surviving are two sons, Danny Huskey of Gaffney and Mark Smith of Spartanburg; two daughters, Cathy Kirkland and husband, Mike, of Moore and Donna Morrow and husband, Tony, of Boiling Springs; a brother, Frankie Putnam and wife, Cheryl, of Gaffney; two sisters, Sue Phillips and husband, P.D., of Cowpens and Joann Ramsey and husband, Bobby, of Gaffney; six grandchildren, Billy Huskey and wife, Frances, Chris Kirkland and wife, Sabrina, Ashley H. Hall and husband, Jason, Kaylie Smith, Gabrielle Morrow and Nathan Morrow; two great-grandchildren, Jake Hall and Caleb Huskey, and numerous nephews and nieces. In addition to her husbands and parents, Mrs. Smith was in death by four Charles Putnam, Dean Putnam, Tom Putnam Land Buck Putnam, and a sister, Collins. The family will receive friends Monday, July 21, from 2- 3 p.m.

Carroll, who was affectionately referred to as "Pop Pops Peanut" by his grandfather; four brothers, Olin Gibson and Doug Gibson of Gaffney, Jerry Gibson of Pacolet and Carl Gibson of Florida; four sisters, Ruth Pochodzay of Union, Betty Scobey of Michigan, Allene Lindsay of Tennessee and Nancy Ward of Gaffney. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Viola Gibson; a son, Robert Andrew Gibson; and seven brothers and sisters. Services will be held Monday, July 21, at 11 a.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Mr.
