of Columbia will be held today, Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at 11 a.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Virginia Barfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Red Cross September 11 Relief Fund, P.O.

Box 97089, Washington, D.C. 20090. Dr. Dobson died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001.

Born Oct. 17, 1921, in Gaffney, a son of the late Edward Hope Dobson Sr. Florence H. Reynolds Retired restaurateur Florence "Sis" Louise Harris Reynolds, 84, of 147 Farview died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

A native of Cherokee County, she was the widow of Joe E. Reynolds and daughter of the late Ellis Carr Harris and the late Ida White Harris. She was a retired restaurateur and a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Penny Dechant of Gaffney; a brother, C. Woodrow Harris of Gaffney; and two grandchildren.

Arrangements are incomplete. Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home is in charge. IN CONCERT HERE THURSDAY The Down East Boys will present a concert of Southern gospel music Thursday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church.

A native of Cherokee County, she was the widow of James (Walt) Walter Scates and daughter of the late J. Columbus Waddell and the late Maggie Davis Waddell. She was a retail sales associate with Wal-Mart. Surviving are a son, Henry Lee Scates of Gaffney; a daughter, Ann Moore of Spartanburg; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pearlene Turner of Gaffney, Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Northside Baptist Church conducted by Dr.

Edward McAbee and the Rev. Odis Vinesett. Burial will be in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Scates, Nick Scates, Michael Jones, Jeffrey 'Jones and Bobby The family is at the residence of Henry Scates, 119 Christopher Rd. A native of Blacksburg, he was the son of Mary Evyn Thomp son Koss 01 Blacksburg and the late Willie Edward Ross. He was a member of Youngs Grove Baptist Church and a 1996 graduate of Blacksburg High School.

He was employed by TNS Mills in Blacksburg. Also surviving are a son, Dari-an Ross of Gaffney; a sister, Nickie Ross of Blacksburg; a half-sister, Betty Garrison of Blacksburg; a brother, Calvin Ross of Blacksburg; five half-brothers, Willie Wilson, Gary Ross, Doug Bolin, Robert Bolin and Lee Bolin, all of Blacksburg. Services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Youngs Grove Baptist Church conducted by the Revs. Larry J.

Brooks, Michael Hull and Johnny McCluney Jr. Burial will be in the church cemetery. 29, 2001, in Mary Black MemorialTiospital. Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of H.F. Barnhill and daughter of the late Garnet Martin and the late Vinnie Cooper Martin. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church. She was a former Red Cross volunteer and a former Hospital Auxiliary volunteer.

Surviving are a son, John G. Barnhill of Gaffney; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Oakland Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Joel Sellers.

Pallbearers will be Mike Barnhill, Stephen Tyler, William Callison, Frankie Barnhill, Mark Scruggs and Brian Lucas. The family is at the home of John Barnhill, 103 Garnett Dr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1886, Gaffney, S.C. 29342.

A native of Spartanburg County, he was the husband of Irene Lamb Scruggs and a son of the late Zee and Carrie Hames Scruggs. He was an auto mechanic and a member of New Pleasant Baptist Church.

He practiced dentistry in Gaffney for 42 years and served as a dentist in the Navy during World War II. Dr.

Dobson was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gaffney, twice president of the Piedmont Dental Society, member of the Jaycees and a Rotarian. He was a founder of the Gaffney Country Club and a charter member of Cherokee National Golf Club where he enjoyed playing golf with his friends. He was on the Board of Directors of the Bank of Gaffney. Surviving are his wife, Martha Burns Dobson of Columbia; daughters, Martha Ferrell and her husband, Jim, of Charlotte and Barbara Collins and her husband, Norman, of Columbia; and grandchildren, Jason Ferrell of Raleigh, N.C., and Kathleen Ferrell of Charlotte, N.C. Fray H.

Hicks Last member of immediate family Fray Hammett Hicks, 93, of Peachtree Centre died Sunday, she was the widow of J.Y. Hicks and daughter of the late Pinkney Hammett and the late Mary Etta Ellis Hammett. She was retired from MacShore Classics and was the last member of her immediately family of 11 brothers and sisters. Mrs. Hicks was a member of Mt.

Olive Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Bonnie Williams of Piedmont, Merle Holmes of Conway and Carolyn Leslie of Kan-napolis, N.C; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel with burial in Frederick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8 at the funeral home.

Sarah L. Wood Blacksburg native Sarah Louise Ramsey Wood, 71, of 2327 Love Springs died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at her home. Born in Blacksburg, she was the wife of Robert Clifford Wood and daughter of the late Luther Albert Ramsey and the late Lillie Huffman Ramsey. She was a retired textile employee and of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Patricia W. Bridges of Gaffney; one grandson; two brothers, Ronald Albert Ramsey of Gaffney and Franklin D. Ramsey of Blacksburg; seven sisters, Hazel R. Crawford of Wellford, Betty R. Vassey of Mayo, Barbara Jean Fowler, Corliss R.

Robertson, Loyce R. Sullivan, Brenda R. Elmore, all of Gaffney, and Joyce R. Bright of Myrtle Beach. In addition to her parents, Mrs.

Wood was preceded in death by two sisters, Cleo Palmer and Willie Mae Ramsey. Services were held Sunday at 2 p. nr. at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel conducted by the Revs. Mike Frazier and Jay Crawford.

Burial was in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
