Program Highlights1 TV News And Entertainment BIRMINGHAM POST-HCRAIO MAY 30 JUNE 5 170 TV notebook 73 going all-NBC and 42 to all-CBS BY EMMETT WEAVER P-H Television Editor Birmingham television (at long last) comes of age and takes its place along with the other national TV markets This Sunday is the big change-over day with WAPI (Channel 13) exclusively an NBC affiliate (formerly this station was split between NBC and CBS) while WBMG (Channel 42) takes over the CBS affiliation in this area What does this mean to you the TV watcher? Well quite simply you'll first of all have to readjust many of your viewing habits Not only will this mean frequently switching channels to get your favorite program or series but also the day of the week may be different too In many cases this new set-up of one network affiliation will mean an improvement For example: Jim Nabors Hour' was formerly on a delay here Mondays at 10-11 pm a lather late hour for some Now under the new set-up the CBS series will be seen at 7-8 pm Thursdays on Ch 42 during its regular network hour With WAPI having exclusive NBC affiliation and ditto for WBMG with CBS it also will mean less delayed shows which are frequently a thorn in the side of not only the viewer but the TV editor who must keep track of them Of course NBC shows which are already being seen on Ch 13 will continue on this station and the same for the CBS ones on WBMG This new network change-over likewise affects daytime programs and perhaps the angriest bunch of viewers probably will be the diehard fans of those aerials or In truth for may become in actuality a search as to what channel John is doing what to Marsha While WAPI and WBMG are playing their game of program turn-over Channel 6 will remain with ABC No changes on this station' Maybe with all this coming at the end of the season especially with most of the shows now being re-runs it will all turn out to be painless Hopefully so But vou can be sure aomebodv will call up and holler: my favorite Joe I a drummer and vocalist alona with his trio play their final night Saturday at the wiler's Regency Room WEST SHOW A few years ago there was a special on TV titled Real Who did the narration for the show?
