The Algona Upper Des Homes, Algona, Iowa, May 6,1937 Ernest E. Condon, Dist. Commander, Sends Greetings I am very happy to return to Algona for the District Convention. I have visited you many times and the friendly courtesies you people extend to visitors always make me feel I am welcome back. Hagg Post has given much to the American Legion, and it has carried out our programs and objectives. It has also given to the State Department that outstanding Legionaire and gentleman, "Skin" Laird, who, by his untiring efforts, has been one of the main cogs in the machinery, that has made this Legion of ours in Iowa the greatest Legion department In the country. This district is proud of Algona and Is proud of the things It has acomplished for its community. I want to extend to its people and Legionalres greetings and best wishes and may good fortune always smile upon you. : Frank Miles, Editor, Extends Greetings It is always a real pleasure for me to attend an Eighth District joint conference of The American Legion and Auxiliary of the Department of Iowa, for there are no more loyal Americans and better folks. The Eighth District has given much to our great organization in membership, inspiration and activities. Moreover, let It never be forgotten that the Eighth is the home of James PI "Jim" Barton and R. J. "Skin" Laird. I shall be glad to return to Algona because I know something of its spirit, I have many friends in its population and it is the dug-out of our Department Adjutant with whom I have worked so many years. I am glad, too, that Algona has adopted Oliver Reiley. than whom there is none whomer, as a Legionaire. In the sixteen years I have been in my present position, I have enjoyed every Legion meeting more than any one before. I know I shall get new thrills at the Eighth District conference at Algona on May 11. Welcome 8th District American Legion & Auxiliary You'll Like Algona Iowa State Bank Ralph Miller, Fres.
