the end zone and wind up there every once in a while Quarterback Louis Solomon helped the Tigers find the offense running for 159 yards and a touchdown in the 24-8 win over Wake Forest yardage was a school record for a quarterback In addition to scoring more points since a season-opening win against LAA Furman Clemson gained a season high 413 yards total and another season high 339 yards on the ground Perhaps more important than the records was the mark Clemson (3-5 2-4 ACC) avoided setting: four straight losses for the first time since 1975 The Tigers came here disconsolate after consecutive road losses to Georgia Duke and Florida State doesn't matter who we play we are just happy with a win especially coming bade from the road games that we've been said Clemson linebacker Michael Barber The win also enabled Clemson to keep Wake Forest (2-7 0- 6) from an equally stunning three straight wins against the Tigers Though the outcome never seemed in doubt an 11-play 65-yard drive in the third quarter took away whatever breath Wake Forest may have had three-yard run provided file score but it was his rushing on third downs that provided the real margin Three times Clemson grabbed first downs on the drive after Solomon kept the ball on the option and swept around the left side "He read the options really well today They came' in to take the pitch away obviously and Louis did a nice job reading West said I see all that field I get excited" Solomon said Solomon third starting quarterback this year sat down after the drive to let Patrick Sapp mop up Nealon Greene was injured last week and play Wake Forest struggled especially on the ground spending most of its day in its own territory Quarterback Brian 44-yard run up the middle for a touchdown with 4:08 left
