CITY Nev Dec 21 (UK) A new group of operators which hopes to take over opera tion of the Boulder Club in down town Las Vegas failed today in an attempt to win approval of a state gambling license so they can begin operations January 1 The group which originally in cluded nine partners was granted a permit last October The same group minus two orig inal members had hoped to win approval of a new license so they could take over the Boulder Club at midnight on New Eve Ernest Amante the managing partner and William Morse a Las Vegas attorney appeared be fore the tax commission today to plead for immediate approval of the new setup They said that two previous partners Neil A Stewart and rank Briere had withdrawn from the group and had been re turned the $30000 they paid for interests totalling 15 per cent The remaining seven partners the pair said had borrowed $30 000 from a Los Angeles surgeon Dr Bert Hollis Cotton to replace the money invested by the depart ing partners Cotton they said would have no interest in the Boulder Club operation The tax commission and the gaming control board decided to treat the new proposal as an en tirely new application since the previous license granted the group was not put into operation during the quarter for which is was issued In addition members of the gaming control board pointed out the matter was first presented to them Tuesday
