4 RIDAY AUGUST 1 1952 Tahoe Biltmore Goes on Auction Block Once More Big Resort at Lake Had Everything But Customers Tahoe Biltmore the big Lake Tahoe resort that had plenty of everything execpt customers will go on the auction block August 15 the Reconstruction inance Cor poration announced yesterday in San rancisco The RC underwrote 75 per cent of a construction loan when Tahoe Biltmore was erected a few years ago and it will be try ing to salvage its investment at the auction Located at the north end of Lake Tahoe the hotel and casino was opened in July 1948' but quickly went bankrupt The opening was attended by the greatest fanfare ever seen at the lake but Tahoe Biltmore proved to be a white elephant A couple of attempts to reopen it and operate at a profit were notable failures The furnishings were sold about two years ago by Ihe referee in bankruptcy and the receipts were applied against a mountain of debts An effort was also made to sell the building itself but there were no takers John McCullough Jr district chief of the RC said the auction August 15 will be conducted by Milton Wershow and David Weisz San rancisco auctioneers Tahoe Biltmore was in the hews not long ago when a congressional committee scored the RC for underwriting the construction loan ARE YOU Truck Driver Gets Citation Richard Earl Williams 21 143 Keystone Avewas cited for im proper backing and driving with out a license late Monday after noon after a truck driven by him crashed into a parked ish and Game Department vehicle on Rain bow Ave Williams told officers that the accident wras' caused whenjhe cramped' the wheels of a Dodge pickup to avoid hitting a small child who dashed into the street He said he was backing up to start the truck which had stalled near the crestof the Rainbow Ave hill The parked car a 1951 ord sedan belonging to the State ish and Game Commission had been parked by James Negler 810 Lodge Ave ARE YOU REGISTERED? tion Carisle Pa has been added to the staff of the Nevada Tuber culosis and Health Association as field representative This was announced yesterday by laherty executive director of the state association He said Miss Mulgrew comes to Nevada with a wealth of experience and training in the field of tuberculosis control She is a graduate of a Pennsyl vania college with an AB degree in social
