recently elected presi dent Mrs Robert Wilson Committee chairmen who will serve for the next two years have been appointed by Mrs Wilson and were announced at a recent general meeting of the organiza meetings when they begin next month and made plans for fund functions and other activities Carson City Social Notes The Carson City Business and Professional Club will hold one of their annual picnics Avenue A pink color scheme was car ried out in table decor with ar rangements of pink tea roses cen tering the individual luncheon tables ollowing luncheon Miss Mapes was showered with a lovely array of miscellaneous gifts which she opened for all to admire An in formal social hour concluded the afternoon Miss Mapes and Richard Kraemer will be married Satur day at 4 pm in Trinity Episcopal Church with many guests from Reno and the Bay Area in attendance The recep tion will follow in the Mapes fam ily home on Arlington Ave and after a honeymoon to an undis closed destination the newlyweds will Well known to Reno residents as a result of his five years resi dence here Mr Ullstein fled the Communists Nazis and hordes of Red China to win freedom of ex pression in both his daily life and his artistic sphere or some time Prof Ullstein was conductor of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra in China and appeared as guest artist in both St Petersburg and Berlin before the Communists and Nazis made life and artistry unbear able in Russia and Germany After he had fled Russia for Germany and had established himself in Berlin he was forced to flee for his life to China to avoid the Nazis In China he quickly became the director of foreign music of the National Tsing Hua Univer sity and later conductor of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra He gave many recitals for the foreign colony in Shanghai and his fame was spreading rapidly throughout the ar East when the Communists invaded China He came to San rancisco and later on to Reno where he has appeared at both the Mapes and Riverside hotels technical knowledge and 85 per cent of the success is attributable to attitude Mr Hoskins informed the club members of the importance of learning to like people and really showing it He stated we should have a sen sitive understanding and a great deal of patience in dealing with others It is how we say what we say the tone in which we say it and our enthusiasm that is re flected in a
