Approves Pay for Attorney: The state attorney general's office was criticized in the leg islature for its handling of the Mark Twain life insurance case Sen James I Gibson Hen derson said the office of At torney General Harvey Dicker son was guilty of of the three of ficials of the Mark Twain com pany who had been charged with embezzlement but were cleared by a jury in Reno The criticism came both dur ing a discussion in the Senate inance Committee and on the floor of the upper house It was over a bill to give $7500 to Stanley Brown who was the lawyer for one of the defen dants who said he was bank rupt Gibson said the forced this issue The money should come from the attorney gen eral's budget or his He said although the defen dants were acquitted their pro fessional reputations were de stroyed Under the law an attorney who defends an indigent client is entitled to only $300 in a non capital case The trial took more than eight weeks Sen James Slattery Reno said the trial ruined life since he had to give up his private practice during the interim Slattery said the attorney gen eral's office hired a private law yer for $13000 to help prosecute the case and still the state lost Sen Archie Pozzi Carson City said attorney general should try his own The bill was approved in the finance committee and then passed in the upper house 15 5 It now goes to Gov Paul Lax alt i Opponents of the bill said lt would open the door to similar claims from other attorneys They expressed fear they be flooded next session with sim ilar requests But proponents' said this was a special case White other side of the fish This will eliminate the need for scaling and removing the entrails You will have two white fillets nearly as big as the palm of your hand and they need only rinsing in cold body pop ping bug for the minnow and eliminate the bobber' The jig will probably have enough weight to allow you to cast it properly but the popper bug streamer fly or maribou fly will require that you add a couple of split shot for weight Handle these lures about the same as minnows Cast out allow to sink nearly to the bottom and re trieve very slowly White blue or white and blue seem the best colors for the streamers or mari bou flies and black seems to be best for the popping bugs Or if you have a spin ning rod use any of these lures with your fly rod Of course you will not be able to handle as much weight and it will ac cordingly take longer for your lure to sink to the bottom The fly rod is a mite slower but maybe its use is a little more sporting A crappie bonanza will be wel come this year for most of our rivers and streams are too swollen and muddy with spring run off for either planting or fishing predict that rather catch and eat crappie than trout anyway Give it a try
